Bournemouth in the money - Lallana sell on clause

25% of the £25 million Liverpool are paying for him. Nice bit of business.

Nothing lucky about it. It's shrewd negotiating by Bournemouth.

Shrewd to insert the clause but lucky that it worked out so well for them.

They recognised he could be a future talent, negotiated the clause and they've been rewarded accordingly.

That's not luck. It's having faith in a player and being bold enough to ask for a cut of the future fee.

In the same way, Darlo weren't "lucky" when they got money from the Burn/Stockdale clauses. Just intelligent negotiating.

Haha, you can't say as a 12 year old they could see anything, really?!

Lucky. I suppose it's a case of bang the clause in on every youngster that leaves and one will hit eventually!

Obviously enough for Southampton to pay £3k upfront for a 12year old!

You would be a bit foolish not to stick a sell on clause. Neither club loses from it if he lives up to potential the buying clubs will get the benefit of his abilities plus a decent sum of money and the selling club gets a decent chunk of money.

It is interesting how things have moved/changed since Lallana moved to Southampton. He was 12 in 2000. By my reckoning Southampton were an established Premier League club and Bournemouth were in Division Three (Eddie Howe was a highly rated young CB - who you could sign on Champ Man and he became awesome).

In that time period Southampton have gone down to League One and back up again. Bournemouth have been through admin, points deductions but have risen up to the Championship.

All clubs have their turmoils, but those on the South Coast seem to have had more than their fair share, but they have come through it.

Suppose if anything it gives me hope for us, on the day that Dan Burn gets a big money move from Fulham - where will we be?
