Personally defends players abusing referees.

Time for the FA to act and summarily dismiss this repellent little turd.

Irrespective of the referee being a complete buffoon, and whether or not you know you're not at fault, you don't abuse him or her.

And you certainly don't condone that behaviour.

very surprised that he has come out in the way he did. When the FA are pushing the respect campaign (for how long though given the recent grassroots survey results showing things are worse than ever) it seems at odds for the england manager to suggest "it's ok, just called him a few names".

I know players sometime get their intelligence unfairly judged but when they do that you realise how lucky some are that they have the ability they do. In the real world making a decision at work which has no possible positive consequence and only potential negative consequence would render you very difficult to employ.
