Who else had a bit blub then?
It just made the last 20 odd years worth the effort, the November nights at s*** tips like Wigan, the late goals this season, always being disappointed in front of a big crowd, the crushed feeling after 96, 2000, being the laughing stock last year & the admins.
Well fuck all of that, we are Darlo, we won a fucking trophy at the home of football and it feels incredible. I have never been as proud to be a Darlo fan.
Not ashamed to say a few tears were shed and know that many long term supporters did the same. Best day ever.

20 years of hurt, embarrasment, humilitiation and defeat brushed aside in an instant. THAT makes every trip to halifax and rochdale and scarborough and carlisle and hartlepool and bury and wrexham worth it. They were so bad to make this day better!

Good description, I had a 'moment' too
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
I really struggled to hold back the floodgates! Welled up several times, even had a bit of a stream down the old cheek before i promptly got my shirt up to wipe my eyes! I've welled up a couple of times watching the highlights today! Haha! I really am a soppy shite with stuff like this!
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
I would never cry over a football match and you are all big girls. My wife cried because she actually is a big girl. See?
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
You're just winding up people on purpose now, you very naughty man

I seemed to develop an extreme case of hay fever just after the final whistle went - should've heeded the high pollen count warning!
Like Breedon though, I'm a right tart when it comes to getting emotional - I've just got back and about to relive it all, gonna be a mint few hours coming up.

I got some grit in my eye, and somebody in the row in front had a load of raw onions he was peeling and chopping just before Senior scored.
Also, I stubbed my toe.

Yep - Tears at the final whistle and then again, when Miller lifted up the Trophy - although i thought that we probably could win, when the moment arrived it was too much.

Started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left.
Who else had a bit blub then?
There was a young lad behind me. He tapped me on the shoulder at the end of the first period of ET and said "we really deserve to be ahead". "Yeah" I said "but footie doesn't always work like that".
After the goal went in and the ferocious celebrations had died down, I felt another tap on the shoulder. Turned round and the lad had tears in his eyes, and I shouted to him "but sometimes it does", and I gave the lad a big celebratory hug.
Turned round and I must admit I had to fight the tears at that point.
That goal and that moment was payback for the last few years of admin, relegation, false dawns etc, and boy did it feel good!

Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
I broke down when we secured the final at Gateshead, but mostly managed to keep it together yesterday. When we scored it was just sheer joy - I've never felt a rush like that before, it was incredible. I got a bit emo when Miller lifted the trophy but manned up fairly quickly to resume the cheering and jumping around.
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
not ashamed to admit welling up at the goal, at full-time, the trophy being lifted, Raj lifting the trophy... then i got up this morning and listened to the Ray Simpson commentary... welled up!!! watched the FATV highlights and surprise surprise welled up. But i'm not daft enough to tell anyone
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
I'm still getting a little bit tearful everytime I watch the goal with Ray's commentary on the youtube vid darlocraig put up. Magic magic day
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
I've felt myself welling up a few times looking at the pics and video. I've not yet progressed to like a little girl but I think if I'd been there at the end I may have outcried the girlfriend. AND I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT.
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
count me in on this one !
Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
got to admit the sheer joy at the end and me ribs are knacked due to
a big hug by my son who didnt know his own strength, think thats why i cried
40 years of frustration ended lol

My mate and I have been watching Darlo since we were at school, and we’re now both in our 50s. At the final whistle I looked at him, and I knew he was thinking the same as me, and that was the first time we’ve actually hugged each other.

I'd been sat next to two plastics who seemed to just turn up on the day and an old woman with grandson.
I went mental when we scored and yes, I certainly couldnt contain my emotions to say the least.
Not to the extent of Gary Mann's blubbing at Rochdale by a long way but I certainly welled up.
After shouting - "FUCKING GET IN THERE" about 27 times.
Thank God I'd taken off the bear jacket. I'd have passed out if I still had that on by the second half of extra time!

Re: Who else had a bit blub then?
Just cried now mate watching that.
The noise of the crowd was jaw-dropping. I thought it was at the time but it was a big blur after the goal.
Didn't cry at the game but was close, so was fatha and brother. Stag cried but it was written in the stars for him for that to happen on his big weekend.
I'm still yet to speak to a fan who hasn't lost his voice!
For all the false dawns, all the laughs, all the Tuesday nights gettin home at 1am and thinking are we mad, for Hodgy, for Penney, for Jabba, for Dufflecoatman, for the fat lasses that served the pies at Feethams, for grandads corner, for Wainy, for Brumwell for all the heroes all the history, the thousands of quid spent, the first two wemblies, the friendships.
Everything that has come before that header by Chris Senior, when the ball came down from heaven and dropped on his midget head for me now makes sense. There is balance in the world.
Being a Darlo fan is fooking magic!!!!!!!!!!
