Campbell is ruled out for another week

Post by Darlo_Pete » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:45 am

In today's Northern Echo it says that Campbell's hand fracture still hasn't healed enough for tomorrow's game. So either Wright, Senior or Modest will partner Liam Hatch up front. This isn't the best of news, but at least he hasn't been ruled out of playing in the second leg a week on Saturday.

Hopefully Senior will get a start now, although it is bad news about Campbell, he looks to be a tidy player.
Saying that, it wouldn't be the first time Coops has played mind games by letting it be known known that a certain player is unavailable then magically producing them on the team sheet...

He's bound to play Modest or Main, just to really piss me off.

I've got a feeling Senior will start. He's surely been back long enough to start, and he is our most natural goalscorer. Modest will be a great option to bring off then bench if we are winning and they are pushing forward. If there's one thing Gateshead's CB's lacked it was pace!

I think he'd be a good option as a substite with his pace if we are being forced back. He won't hold the ball up, but play it over the top and I think Gateshead's slow CB's would struggle to deal with him.

Hey, I hadn't realised:

We could have Offiong playing against Offiong Mk 2!!

What an action-packed battle that would be......

Scored a decent goal against Telford. If he can do that on Saturday I'd be happy.

From the way Cooper speaks in the Echo this morning it sounds as if Senior is his preferred choice but he's a little wary of whether he's fully up to it after his injury. From what i've seen he should be able to play 60 mins at least.

He's never going to get fit if Cooper never plays him.

Watch what you say lads, remember what happened on the Tooting and Mitcham board when one of their players was criticised

To really piss you off - I understand you are in the starting lineup, expected to hold the line and not die before 90 mins.

You will be expected in the RG for your bitch of the week presentation.

Agreed, he was garbage, might have been through on goal but turned and looked at the linesman about 4 times waiting for the flag to go up, which it never. Even Tommy would have been a better option

If Modest hadnt held his run, he would have been offside. The linesman was itching to put the flag up but didnt beacuse Modest didnt go after the ball till the defender had played it. Also Modest won the free kick that led to the first goal.
I dont think hes up to much but hes more use than Offiong.

Although he's relatively crap, Modest gave us a much needed injection of pace and we played with a lot more purpose when he came on for the ineffective Senior.
If Cooper replaced Senior with Tommy we wouldn't have won today.

That would be fantastic news if he can feature next Saturday, although I wouldn't expect him to start the game.

To be honest, I thought Modest changed the game. He looked knackered, and his pace come in handy. He come on at 2-0 down, so he did contribute in us scoring those 3 goals.

I think Modest made the game swing in our favour, he gave the centre backs something else to think about. I don't think he's too bad a player, prefer him to Tommy Wright, who was blowing out of his arse after 47 seconds.

Quakerz - Is Modest better or worse than Michael Smith, cause i know you think he's rubbish too (even tho he's only young and not a bad player)

Modest is worse than Michael Smith. By miles.

Pity Senior didn't substantiate your cries for him to replace Smith!!

Senior was poor because he's not fully fit, Modest was poor because he is poor, the sooner we get Campbell back the better, he and a fitter Senior can battle it out to be Hatchy's sidekick.

BTW Fisher's contract at Gateshead is up in the summer,

He looked very handy and took his goal well.
That said, I was impressed with Gateshead yesterday. They played the ball along the deck a lot and weren't afraid to run at us with the ball.

Their right back was great too. A loanee from newcastle I think?
