The likes of Senior, Smith and Modest are not going to get us into promotion contention next season. I appreciate we'll keep Smith because of his age but we need better than Senior and Modest.

HITMAN apart, the strikeforce is not good enough.

Get shot of Senior, Modest, Wright (if we can), Main, and bring a proper player in.

What a shame, we've absolutely battered them in that second half! Quakerz, you can moan about Senior and Modest as much as you like, our issues are defensive. If our defence was on the ball tonight we would have got something out of that. How many games do we fail to score in? Not many? How many games do we give away stupid goals that cost us points? Far too many.

Agreed. M. Smith has at least shown some potential. The rest can bugger off.

Sounds like we hit the woodwork twice and had 2 cleared off the line while also should have had a penalty.

We have conceded 35 goals all season, the defence is not the problem.

The strikeforce (apart from HITMAN) is, and has been all season.

I'm not interested in Senior hitting the bar, he's not there to hit the bar, he's there to hit the fucking net. Modest is fucking useless, as is Main. And Smith carries zero goal threat unless it's a free kick.

What goal threat do we carry? Fuck all.

Other than HITMAN, where have the goals came from? The midfield.

The stats don't quite back that up.

We're the 5th lowest scorers in the league. With the 3rd best defensive record.

To be fair to Wright, he has never had a long enough run in the team.

Wrong. We've scored 18 goals away from home. 18 goals. That's the 3rd worst in the league, only slightly better than Southport (15) and Altrincham (16).

Fucking Histon have scored 2 more goals than us away from home.

Can't blame the forwards for that.

Yes, it seems we have been unlucky. The REALLY good teams are NEVER unlucky because they always get the ball between the white sticks rather than it them. And defenders don't get a chance to hack the ball off the line cos it's already in the net.

Agree with Quakerz that the defence isn't really the problem. I can't be arsed checking but there isn't many teams who have conceded less than us. Yes we've let in daft late goals and let in some silly ones but scoring more often can kill teams off and ensures the defence aren't under any undue pressure near the end of games. The last two home games sum it up really. We didn't play well but had enough chances to get something. However we didn't take those chances and that is why we just got a point instead of six in those games.

A better striker alongside Hatch is what we need. I really hope Cooper gets shot of the absolutely toothless lot we have at the minute.

The facts do back it up. How many points would we have been better off if not for last minute captiulations or defensive blunders? The goals we *have* scored *should* have been enough to have gotten us a considerable amount of extra points. I'll concede some ground with the strikers, it certainly wouldn't hurt to add to the frontline and find an ideal partner for Hatch next season, but trying to say that the points we've dropped *specifically* due to defensive lapses and individual errors by hiding behind a vague statistic doesn't cut it at all. If you're going to scrutinize at one end you must do it at the other.

Smith is certain to get a contract.

So we'd have HITMAN, Smith, Campbell, Wright under contract. If we can't move Wright on, then Senior has no chance of a contract.

No, some of the players that are getting slated here are much better than some of these cop out posts suggest, and our supposed "all mighty" defence is not as good as a lot of people have convinced themselves, despite the stats. Pepe Reina kept a lot of clean sheets in the past, doesn't change the fact he can be an error prone liability. Stats are not always the be all and end all in football.
