He's under contract for the next 2 seasons and cost Oxford around £50k, If he did move it wouldn't be down the pyramid that's for sure, I think we can safely chalk him off the listdarlojames wrote:tom craddock would be one hell of a signing (if he would ever come)...cudnt stop scoring when he was on loan at luton last season....and he's darlo born and bred.

Is this the clown we had in for a few games under Hodgy? If so, he was a bit of shambles from what I remember.AndyPark wrote:Taiwo Atieno

Ateino did half decent for Luton this season, before moving up the league to Stevenage.

Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
Just seen that Gareth Evans is on a free from Bradford. Remember he looked a really good player when at Macclesfield, and I think he scored a couple against us, if memory serves me. Skilful forward, could make something out of nothing, and took a decent freekick. Perhaps worth a look.

Yeah he'd do
In all seriousness though I think he'd definitely be able to secure a league club. If memory serves me correctly he's still quite young. I'm actually surprised Bradford are letting him go as they paid a fee when they signed him.
Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
As Bradford finished near bottom and had goalscoring problems, and released a young forward that they paid for, then perhaps he isn't all that...
Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
Ask the Bradford fans about Evans and they'll tell you despite his age he's like a geriatric on the pitch. Has scored some spectacular goals but doesn't put enough of a shift in to get himself in goalscoring positions often enough.
I'd rather have that nutter Speight.

Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
How many players have done anything at Bradford in recent seasons? I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the club, and to write Evans off might be a mistake.
He did very well in a piss poor Macclesfield side, and from what I remember seemed hard working enough for them. For free, still think he'd be worth a punt.

Danny Kedwell has written a transfer request to leave Wimbledon. This is a long long long shot mind;

Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
I'm sure Crawley had a bid rejected recently.
Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
How about Matthew Grieve
20 year old Centre Back, seen him play in the Newcastle Reserves quite a lot and although he never looked Premiership quality I think he will be a solid quality in the BSP.
Didnt have the best of luck at a loan spell at Stockport last season, debut in a 5-1 defeat, own goal in the second game and then injured in his final match, but that has more to do with how bad Stockport were than him as an individual

How many do we have? 1. And he scored 16.
Wright is not a target man, Campbell isn't, and I don't think Walshaw is by all accounts. Smith does not count because he is fucking useless.

Well I'm counting Wright because he's so immobile these days. So that makes 3: Hatch, Smith & Wright. Even if we some how found a team to take Wright we don't need another imo.

Was Cooper not interested in bringing in Gash last season when we had Hatch, Wright and Smith already?

Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
Weird that Andy Reid deemed surplus to requirements at Sunderland has also been deemed as such at Blackpool!
No surprise that Owen Hargreaves has finally been kicked to the curb by United.
Eider Gudjohnsen being released by Stoke is quite surprising.
Interesting stuff!
Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
He's fuck all use as a target man too though, so you may as well call him a left-back.Robbie Painter wrote:Well I'm counting Wright because he's so immobile these days he is fuck all use in any other role. Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
Yeah, hand in a transfer request at a club in League 2 who are desperate to keep you and with teams like Crawley sniffing around in order to move back down to the Conference to a team who can offer less money and are located at the other end of the country.AndyPark wrote:Danny Kedwell has written a transfer request to leave Wimbledon. FFS.
Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
It's a funny one the Kedwell situ - presumably money driven given Terry Brown's insistence that they operate on a shoe string and very strange given his stance a month ago before the play-offs

Rejecting an offer of over £250K from Crawley tho you find it difficult to see who could afford him at the level he'd be able to play at i.e. L1 or lower and with 1 year plus the option of another year left on his deal.

Re: Free Agent's/Transfer Targets
Some good points in there but you fucked it all up by talking of Boyd (signed a new deal at Hartlepool) and McCammon (non goalscoring big lump, when we already have Michael Smith and Tommy Wright in that role - as well as already having a SCORING big lump in Hatch that causes more problems than McCammon ever would)lo36789 wrote:I can't see the likes of Reuben Reid dropping to our level, my opinion - i'll probably be proved wrong by Fleetwood most likely! Graeme Lee has been released by Notts County, he's 33 now, he was probably on a pretty decent wage over there but he is a local lad and I think he would be a great addition especially with Dan Burn moving onto bigger & better!
Another potential target, again with Pooly links is Adam Boyd, he doesn't seem to be in favour over there at the moment and only scored 4 goals last season - doesn't sound like great pedigree, but the lad WAS very good and I think dropping down he could be very good again, they did pay £80k for him not too long ago but it's whether they want him off the wage bill (obviously question then would be can we afford him on ours!). I do like the sound of Mark McCammon if he is a free transfer because he is a handful for anybody!
Moving forward I think a new centre back is key (the fact that we played Hatchy there at Wembley illustrates this!), and the centre midfield is going to take some work especially if we pick up injuries I think McReady, Chandler, Taylor may be OK to start the season with MBW in behind Hatch and Walshaw/Campbell.
We definately also need 2 get hold of 2 wingers (wainwright/moore) style that can play direct if we need too, but it may be more beneficial to use the loan market for this purpose.
