I'd be surprised if he was interested in football. And yes, I've heard of him.

Don't know what he is worth, but his company turned over £100M in 2009.

Not too bad in a run down economy.

The Manchester-based Mansion Group advises a student accommodation investment fund that’s grown by a staggering 21% in the last four months. The company is forecasting massive growth in the next financial year with turnover rising to more than £100m, and has just opened new offices in Mayfair.

This rapid growth is predicated on continuing subscriptions into the fund launched on the Guernsey Stock Exchange late last year. Shares were issued in an open-ended investment company (OEIC) launched with strategic partner Braemar Group plc. From an initial £3m it has already doubled in size and is growing by £1 million a week.

Mansion Group Chairman Paul Wildes says his group is on track to achieve turnover in the financial year ending in April in excess of £25 million with retained reserves approaching £4M - an increase of 150% on the previous year.

Sorry fucked that up what i meant to say was will he keep us at the arena and develop the land or move us to a new ground. If he does takeover the first thing he needs to do is give liddle the managers job.

I am concerned if he is a friend of Houghton. What interest does he have in Darlington Football Club - has he any connection to darlington, worried we are in a similar situation as the past three chairman. Only good news is he will only have 60% share.

The mission statement of the group is to secure luxury student accommodation in the top 30 most populated student areas.

I can't see how this site fits in with that business aim. Darlo College is hardly a massive complex and most of the people who go there probably live in the town. I find this difficult to believe but we will see. Interesting speculation.

Yes very good point, Darlo College are part of the Teesside campus and it would be seen by the Council as something that would benefit the town. I was trying to get the businesss rationale clear in my head.

You don't build student accommodation 2 miles away from the campus, and certainly not 15 miles away!

It would also be mandatory for the students to attend theArena on match days, thereby bolstering attendance.

Wasnt the idea of the Darlington Campus being in town, so that people from this area would go to it and not have to travel through to Teesside. Can't see why they would need accommodation in the middle of both sites.

You see, this is how bullshit spreads. The mission statement says no such thing. His business is investing in hotels.

My profuse apologies. It appears that Mr Wildes has moved his business focus to branded hotels and has reduced if not eliminated his stake in student accommodation. it is therefore possible that the site may be used for branded hotel development.
