Can't see Lowe dropping 2 leagues below the one he's just won, he'd be a good choice though, might bring Poole and Griffin back with him.Darlo.For.Life wrote:Following on from Darlofan97's thread, suggest your candidates for the Dralington Manager's job.

Jason Ainsley? Won 3 titles in 3 successive years at Spennymoor

If Lowe would come to us he'd be my preferred candidate by some distance, but I doubt he will and it seems like it'll most likely be Lee. Ainsley would be a good shout though.
I just hope we actually take time to evaluate all candidates rather than just putting Lee in charge from the off though.

Whoever it is MUST have a knowledge of the level we'll be playing it and already have knowledge of both the teams we'll be playing against, knowledge of who the better players are in the region and what the teams at this level pay out in wages. What we need to avoid is players coming here and getting a pay hike.

Perhaps, you could send this comment to the English FA. Bizarre, how nobody else was interviewed for the England job. Hope we don't do the same. Massive decision.Darlo_H wrote:

How much difference does an interview make for a job like that? All the possibilities were so well known and would be well known by the FA anyway.princes town wrote:Perhaps, you could send this comment to the English FA. See that's why I'm in favour of Graeme Lee, even though he has zero management experience and he'd be taking on an important project.divas wrote:Whoever it is MUST have a knowledge of the level we'll be playing it and already have knowledge of both the teams we'll be playing against, knowledge of who the better players are in the region and what the teams at this level pay out in wages. Lee obviously still can play, imagine how good he'd be at Evostik level - one quality player less to find.
Lee knows which (if any) current Darlo players would be prepared to stay on on a part time basis. Arnison has already volunteered, would be good at Evostik level, and Lee will know this. A couple of the youths may stay if they don't get fixed up anywhere, Lee will know which ones may stay and take on maybe a part time/full time role. If we did resign 2 or 3 players it would be a massive bonus because we would have 2-3 players less to find. A different manager may miss out signing possible players from the current squad.
Lee may not know the level like say Jason Ainsley, but who is Graeme Lee's dad? Tony Lee! He's managed anyone and everyone at Northern League, Evo 1, Evo Prem level. He knows the level, and players like the back of his hand. This is assuming that Tony would help Graeme with identifying players etc.

Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
You'd like to think if he's over his injury problems and even at 34, that he would stand out at that level. Any ideas when Arnison is going to emigrate? He's very useful to have whilst we can.Quakerz wrote:See that's why I'm in favour of Graeme Lee, even though he has zero management experience and he'd be taking on an important project.divas wrote:Whoever it is MUST have a knowledge of the level we'll be playing it and already have knowledge of both the teams we'll be playing against, knowledge of who the better players are in the region and what the teams at this level pay out in wages. I'd like the job given to Lee as soon as is possible really, so he can crack on with recruiting players etc, I dont think it would be an issue playing and managing.

What would Hodgy know about Evostick? He'd think Evostick was a Norwegian winger.pb1991 wrote:Brian Little for me

Funnier if you'd said a holding midfielder.
I like your signature btw
Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
It would be a good start for Graeme Lee and us, I"m sure his father would be a great help to him.We would get a player-manager who is keen to prove himself.
Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
Norris Cole was rubbish/out of touch when he managed us 6 years back on a big budget, he's done nowt since then so is unlikely to be a magical solution.Quakerz wrote:Lee may not know the level like say Jason Ainsley, but who is Graeme Lee's dad? Jason Ainsley knows the northern league well but has basically signed every decent player in north east which stopped other teams winning titles.
Let's go for someone like Lee. Starting the ladder. Need some good scouts though.

Brian Little...?
Please please check out his recent record before suggesting that, or ask a Gainsborough fan...
It doesn't matter who it is as long as they have the necessary hunger to start the team up from pretty much scratch, the ambition to take us up and the knowledge of the local and national (particularly NPL) non league scene to recruit the right players at the right price.
Thats actually quite a tall order.
Ainsley maybe would be good though not that experienced. Dont know much about Graeme Lee but does sound like a good idea, as Quakerz says his father could add experience as well.
Dont fancy Mick Tait as he hasnt been succesful at other clubs.

Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
I used to go to Gainsborough matches occasionally and lived very close to the club, ask the fans and they will tell you it was not as clear cut as the results suggest, but it appears everyone is against Little.
maybe I just remember the good times under him and think he has bags of experience.

Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
Ainsley maybe good but not much experience yet Lee would be a good idea?!
If Ainsley is one thing it's a winner with a winning mentality, doesn't matter if he's had pots of money or not. We need someone that will be able to instill that mentality here.
I'm on the fence re Lee. Ideally I'd have liked to have seen him given the reigns for the final few games.

Think Harry Dunn is a decent shout.
Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
What about Paul Burton who's just left Marske. He can sign good quality players on a budget and even got Anth Ormerod to play for us Seasiders. Also his assistant normally posts on football forums so that might help us being a community club.

Re: Potential Managers for Evo-Stik Division 1 North
I think Ainsley should be your man.
He already manages a team that would walk the Evostick North and he may well be able to persuade some of those players to come with him, which would be half the battle done. Spennymoor not taking promotion could work in your favour as there are bound to be some players there happy to move up and do the extra travelling and Darlo will probably be the only club in the area at that level who could realistically pay them more than they are getting at Spenny.
