New Signing
New Signing
Christian Selby from Norton. I've mentioned him previously as I coached him when he was a bit younger and he was outstanding. Used to be on the books at Middlesbrough & Sunderland.
Nothing official from the club about it yet as far as I'm aware.

Re: New Signing
Christian was on trial with the club when i spoke to him at the open day, so has something changed since then? Also he left norton and went to Billingham Town instead.

Is it the same Selby that played for Wolviston last year?

Re: New Signing
He's an attacking midfielder
Re: New Signing
He's definitely signed but don't know in what capacity. Could be non contract terms. He was a really good player when I coached him.
Does anyone know anything about us putting a reserve team together? Heard that too

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Never argue with an idiot: The best possible outcome is that you win an argument with an idiot.
Re: New Signing
Actually, on closer inspection, he looks more like the water boy.

Re: New Signing
hartlepool too. Played a few games in the youth team but BTF would probably know more. Not a signing on the scale of Boydy but nonetheless interesting.DTID wrote:Christian Selby from Norton. Re: New Signing
I think its unfair to compare this signing to one like Boyd. Christian is a natural talent, you could see that in him from a very early age. He was picked out by Boro and Sunderland and just released after a while. I'm convinced if he remained with his junior team to develop naturally rather than going to those clubs he would be playing at least L1 or Championship level now.
We need to get his confidence up and fitness back and without a doubt he will be a fantastic signing. He's skilful with a good pass and set piece in him.
I didn't see him play for Pools youth team but very surprised we didn't take him on when he was released.

So he's a creative attacking centre midfield type?DTID wrote:I think its unfair to compare this signing to one like Boyd. Well that is one of the positions which we were apparently "lacking" according to the idio... know-it-al... moro... people on NLZ, but then we haven't signed Iniesta so I'm sure we'll still struggle to stave off relegation. With Iniesta we might have just managed it.
Re: New Signing
Yeah he's more of an attacking central midfielder. Can play upfront as well.

Re: New Signing
Heard we've also signed James Coatsworth. 17 year old right mid (i think) was on Huddersfield academy's books until the end of last season. I've reffed him a few times, was a standalone player in the leagues I reffed him and I'm sure under the guidance he will get with us he will prosper.
Re: New Signing
I think we are signing a load of 17/18 year olds to put together a reserve team. I've no idea how we could afford all the wages though.

We have expressed an interest in Gary Brown. Unreal signing if we pull it off.

Re: New Signing
He's very highly rated at Durham and was scouted by a number of clubs last season.

Re: New Signing
Also worth pointing out that Gary Brown wasn't on their registered players list on their official site which was posted today.
Re: New Signing
He is on the Northern League site, registered to Durham on 24th June. Though he's not contracted.
The thing is, what position is he best at? We've got a good right back in Harrison, good left backs in Gray and potentially Smith, so we probably need another centre back. But Brown didn't play centre back for Durham last season.
