Northallerton this Monday

Post by Wack » Thu Jul 12, 2012 9:27 am

Looking forward to a good crowd at the RGPS Stadium, this is a 7-30 kick off, not 7-45pm. Its only 14 mins on the train, the ground is about 15 mins walk form the station but there is 2 pubs en-route :D

Gate recepts will be split 50/50 between both Clubs, so this game is very much a joint venture. £5 and £2,50 to get in.Martin Grey was signed for us last season and is very much a friend of the Club.

Ground open at 6pm, theres also a large bar on site, with excellent food all evening.

For those that havent been to Northallertons ground before, its one of the better in the league (although I say it my self) with decent terracing behind each goal, and a smaller version of the "tin shed" down one side.

Off-peak return £5.10 according to Trainline. Train times as below.

Darlo 17:56 - 18:07 Northallerton
Northallerton 21:52 - 22:05 Darlo

They are earlier train's either way but the above seem to be the best fit with the match and a 15 min walk to/from station/ground.

Is that you Baggy?
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Can I make it from Yarm to Northallerton in 25 mins, find a space and get into the ground? Or would i be seriously pushing it?

 class.

Avoid spending money in Africa. Invest in a plot of land in Darlington. About five acres should do the trick. Then a simple transfer of deeds to the CIC and boom. The F.E. Roadkill Stadium.

I'm intending going to this game, what is the car parking like near or at the ground?

Pete,
there is quite a lot of space to park just inside the main entrance - get there early and you should have no problem. Otherwise there are some spaces at the children's play area next to the ground. It's not that far to walk from the large car park (The Applegarth) behind the High Street.

I wouldnt park in the play area, they lock the gates at 9. We have parking for over 100 cars and this will be supervised. There is loads of street parking around the ground.

I can do Yarm to Northallerton in 17 mins (A19) so you should have no problem in 25.

Anyone coming by train, head towards Romanby, dont head into the Town, its nearly 2 miles away

The car park sits nicely behind one of the goals, when i went to watch aycliffe last season i was really confused why people where avoiding a certain area of the car park ? then i returned to my car to find about 10 dirty ball prints (ooh erh sir!) all over my motor !

be prepared for the carwash !

other than that northallerton was a strange one for me, most seemed really pleasant, think we got lumbered with the resident weirdo who had lots of story's to tell about famous people he knew or had met ! (second half we moved seats !)

You should get off the train to the left. In this case go back under the track to the other side, walk down through the car park to the road and turn left. Go over the railway crossing and follow the road over a couple of mini roundabouts. The ground will be found on the right in about 15 mins.

There might be a shorter/quicker way, but this is the easiest to describe:

When you come out of the station head towards Romanby. This is the opposite direction to the town centre on the A167. (Boroughbridge Road).

You will arrive at a roundabout. Again, keep heading to Romanby, but on the A684. (Lees Lane).

Keep walking, and on the right you will come to Ainderby Road.

The ground is in Ainderby Road on the left as you walk.
