Does anyone still drink in local pubs or does everyone just purchase from the supermarket and drink at home these days?

If you still have a 'local' what is it?

Only drink Friday/Saturdays, use local (Shuttle or Springfield) regular and town centre - can understand why people do drink at home, but for me part of drinking is going out, enjoying an atmosphere/music etc... if im in at home say watching the footy, much rather have a can of coke than lager/beer.

On the rare occasions I get out with the boss then it would be the Springfield for me.

I brew my own mostly, still go out from time to time. Usually to The Quakerhouse.

Now I've moved to Yorkshire, my local is the Black Bull at Melsonby. I've been there on a handful of occassions, but hardly a regular.

Shuttle when I can be bothered but to be honest the only reason I went there was for the football. I've since put Sky on during the football season so rarely bother.

Quakerhouse, Britannia or Number 22 but only really go out on football days or when there's an event on.

No local as such in our village. Just a Sunday feeding trough for the town gypsies parking in the bus stops and on the greens!

If we go to town we generally use the William stead, Turks head or up grange road. I like the market square but must do as the boss says later on.
Waiting for Raj to shaft them!

Only go to the pub when out shooting near Winston so the Brownlow arms for me, otherwise drinking at home for me, saves a fourtune.

Would never have Sky in my house, or pay any money to Murdoch - (nice to see today that his Daughter has condemnded him and her Brother. as just being interested in profit)- c. - Lead article in the Guardian today, but if a local pub chooses to pay an extortionate amount of cash to an Australian businessman - who am I to argue with them.

I'll go and watch - costs me nothing - apart from possibly £ 0.01 on a pint.

DC

The guy is a crook - always has been - always will.

Unfortunately our Prime Minister would never criticise him, because he rely's on his support. !!

Anyway I'm not too impressed with Sky either but for different reasons, their HD transmission is utter shite

On the rare occasions that we have any money at all, we use the very pleasant Queen Victoria on Yarm Road in Stockton. Carl and Gail are two of the nicest landlords you will meet.

Me and the wife tend to favour meals out over going to the pub, but when we do we favour quieter/smaller places these days - Pot & Glass in Egglescliffe, The Fox Covert, The Falcon in Hilton and so on.

Nothing I hate more than big pubs pumping out obnoxious music, full of gangs of blokes and having to shout at the person I'm stood next to to be heard.

This is us really. Go out for a meal and drink maybe once a month, other saturday nights we just spend in and drink cans.

The pub trade has died other than the few successful pub grub places with a good reputation.

Our place of choice is The Bay Horse in Middridge.
