Friendliest ground?
Friendliest ground?
I've been to all the away games so far, barring Penrith, and the Billingham Synners welcome today was the best so far - the guys selling programmes/raffle tickets at the gate were a delight to talk to, full of praise for Darlo and knowledgable about our past problems; the bar staff were cheerful and efficient; the Synners fans I met were courtesy itself and on the way out were openly admiring our performance. Anyone disagree?

Guisborough and Consett were both very friendly, Dunston was fine also, although I didn't see any issues either. Bishop were very accommodating opening game.darl0 wrote:I've been to all the away games so far, barring Penrith, and the Billingham Synners welcome today was the best so far - the guys selling programmes/raffle tickets at the gate were a delight to talk to, full of praise for Darlo and knowledgable about our past problems; the bar staff were cheerful and efficient; the Synners fans I met were courtesy itself and on the way out were openly admiring our performance. Re: Friendliest ground?
Have to agree with you a very pleasant experience.
The guys on the programme stall were great - said they don't usually do a 50/50 as they dont normal get a big crowd in. Seemed genuinely pleased to see us all and take money off us. Ended up sitting near them in the crowd and they were pleased with their teams first half performance, bit quieter second half!!

The fans near us seemed a little bemused by the Hartlepool song
Re: Friendliest ground?
At Penrith they even wished Darlo a very safe journey home and said we shouldn't be there in the first place ... ...

I remember going to Synners ground a few years back, their did a cracking pint.
DARLO FANATIC
Supporting DARLO might be a heartache but it's a heartache I chose to have.

Re: Friendliest ground?
Today was a fantastic experience, emailed them yesterday as I was taking a guy in a wheelchair who needs two carers, rang me today and arrangements in place when we arrived. Top class welcome, friendly and lovely atmosphere, although as others have said weve had a lot of good welcomes so far in this league
Re: Friendliest ground?
I think the fella counting the attendance was that busy welcoming us that he forgot to count half of the crowd! 986? Get out of here!

Re: Friendliest ground?
I asked the guy at the entrance for a concessional entry thinking it would be for over 60s.As he was giving me my change I asked him if it was for over 60s,he said "no mate it,s for over 65s,but
£3 is fine there are loads of you".Bit different to that lot at Darlington road !!

Re: Friendliest ground?
In fairness we parked in the ground car park, could of easily walked in the ground without paying, possible that a few weren't counted
Re: Friendliest ground?
Found Synners very accommodating today and equally as friendly. If we eventually make our way out of this division I'll certainly go back to the likes of Synners and Guisborough when Darlo aren't playing in future.

Now is not the time to cry
Now’s the time to find out why
I think you’re the same as me
We’ll see things they’ll never see
Darlo’s going to live forever!

Re: Friendliest ground?
Maybe this is in fact the fabled 'Northern League Experience' we've heard so much about? lol. I hope the Evo Stick League is as accommodating next season!
COME ON DARLO!

Re: Friendliest ground?
I was just thinking it sounds from what I've read that a few more might go and support their local northern league team alongside Darlo in future (providing we get out of there, of course).TFDM wrote:Found Synners very accommodating today and equally as friendly. It might work both ways if teams get a few Darlo fans coming to support them - bit of community outreach which everyone can join in.

Re: Friendliest ground?
I've been to both Billingham games and Consett away and I've been very impressed with the friendly welcome we have received from all of those clubs. They all agree we shouldn't be in the Northern League and wish us good luck in recapturing our League status.

Re: Friendliest ground?
Been to all away games with exception of Consett.
Have not felt unwelcome at any.
Guisborough, where they had everything organised so right, equally Penrith, on a horrid night stand out for me.
I hope that those away fans attending our "home" games also feel that it is a pleasant experience.

Celtic nation is a friendly place to visit, although its in the middle of nowhere!
Team North will be interesting, it's basically a leisure centre!

Do we get a free swim with the price of entry?
Re: Friendliest ground?
Got to be Penrith for me.
Extra friendly, good food and locals wished me a safe journey home after we won!!

Re: Friendliest ground?
Whitley bay will be the best away all season. Good sized home crowd with decent away following will make good atmosphere IMO
