Attendances vs League Position
I was reading on here recently about current and potential attendances and dug out some stuff I was looking at a few months ago. What was interesting was our previous attendance averages of 4000 (05/06) to 5000 (03/04) and our aspirations to L1 / D2 - right in the middle where the curve crosses 5000 attendance corresponds with position 48 over the 4 leagues from Champ to Conf.
Lets hope we can get back to 5,000 average home gate in a new home.

Which season was this where the Premier League Champions had an average attendance of 19,000 and the 3rd place team had an average of 31,000?

It's the Championship and below, the Prem doesn't come into it.lo36789 wrote:Which season was this where the Premier League Champions had an average attendance of 19,000 and the 3rd place team had an average of 31,000?

Ah of course Reading & West Ham that would be then!
I'll be honest when I look at he data all I can spot is that from position 28-72 if that was looked at in isolation there would be very little trend - league 2 is all over the place! But does demonstrate a solid difference between football league & conference!
I think I can spot Bradford & Luton, who are the team at the wrong end of League 1 with good attendances?

The line isn't too good a fit to be honest at championship level but interesting to see that a 5k crowd can do you quite well in div 1. Interesting chart.

No line will fit championship well, but in terms of attendance we should be aiming for L1 performance, how long it will take us..........

It must be, I had no idea Preston averaged around 12,000 fans! That's quite impressive for somewhere with a population of 114,000 people (according to Wiki).
I thought a lot of their 'legacy' support from their better days would have fallen away by now, their ticket prices don't look abnormally cheap either.
