Tunbridge Wells aren't going to be in the mix for promotion from there league though right? So if that's correct it kind of makes your use of them as an example pointless.

That should have no bearing on how the Northern League commitee scheduled fixtures for the league. Your league season is longer than ours. How is that fair?

Because we took EVERY competition we entered seriously. We have 3 cup finals to look forward to and still pushed you all the way.

I wasn't the one quoting TW fixture lists, merely pointing out that they have got games after the Vase final as well. 2 games I believe from their exhaustive 34 game League season.

Yet the Northern League committee should only be bothered about the league and the league cup when organising it's fixtures, as that is all it's responsible for.

We quite clearly aren't going to agree. It's funny, as I've spoken to a few football fans who don't support teams in the Northern League. They all think the situation is ridiculous. Strange eh.

If Manchester city took all competitions seriously and had been postponing matches pre cup ties earlier in the season, and by may had not completed their fixtures what do you think would happen. Man united complete their fixtures along with everybody else. Man city then knew what they needed to do and also their opposition knew what result they needed do you think that is sporting!

Relegation places hinge on results of games which took place after the last day of the season, do u think the fa or other teams would find this acceptable?

Strange decision and unheard of.

Our initial load of signings were before our appeal, so they were willing to play in either division. Subsequent signings (i.e the likes of Thompson and Galbraith) quite clearly have aspirations to play higher, so it wouldn't have made any difference to our team building ability I don't think.

Absolute bollocks.

Brown, Thompson, Scott, Dowson, Amar Purewal, Arjun Purewal all came from the Evostik anyway. Tait came from America. Several others - Bell, Harrison, Emms, Gott, Davis have played at Evostik level in the past.

We'd have built just as good a squad - we'd have signed more or less the same players.

Quite possibly, but again, you don't know that. Firstly, we would have had longer. Secondly we would already of had half a squad remaining from the previous season.

Given that the so called Northern league "experts" gave us absolutely no chance this season, you'll forgive me for taking your comment with an extremely large pinch of salt.

Because we prioritised the league. That's what normal, ambitious clubs, who are aware of the potential for fixture congestion do.
So you knew at the start of the season that we were going to get horrendous weather. I guess you don't work for the Met Office then?
Spennymoor have postponed fixtures mid week to give players a rest before playing a cup game despite having enough bank rolled contracted players to be able to field 2 different teams. The weather is only part of the problem...... But interestingly the only one Spennymoor, Amos and the FA seem to use as an excuse as to why a fixture backlog has 'surprisingly' crept up on you when every other team could see it coming a mile off.

No more than the struggle we had to build a team for the NL..The total disrespect we have been afforded by some quarters is quite staggering... From price hikes when we come to town to nasty unfounded comments of damage to grounds when we there ..and now extending the season to our potential disadvantage. You should be grateful for our presence this year. The "shock" never happened to us and we havent finished mid table nor will we be here for 5 years.Thing is Northernlad we the fans ARE our club and we have ambition..Unlike your 200 or so fans whose very existance depends on one man.
For us its onwards and upwards and serious aspirations each season..For you its err.. more of the same wind and piss.My good judgement tells me that you wouldnt take promotion if available. When players like to get home for their tea on a saturday there is no hope..
So goodnight and goodbye..

Quakerz,

But would they ALL have been as available for a midweek away game in Manchester etc this season? Some players may not have had the chance to get additional time off work therefore your starting 11 may have been weakened. Do you not agree that this could've been the case?

Then that's a result of Spennymoor's strategy.

The weather wasn't "unforeseeable" because there have always been problems at this level - as you say, it's the Northern League.

Given Spennymoor's squad is so strong, as a result of their large budget, the squad rotation should mean there's no need for an extension.

Read up on Guernsey and how they're coping with the backlog - squad rotation.

But instead you cry off, blame everything other than yourselves and wait for uncle Mike to stroke it better.

I thought I liked Spennymoor, now I'm not so sure.

Forget the weather, how many midweek games have been postponed due to the fa vase? Just curious.

And who sets those rules as such regarding the midweek game getting cancelled before a Vase game? It's not Spenny, Shildon, Whitley Bay etc. it was the Northern League.

And if you were in the Vase this year you would've been given the same flexibility. Would you have turned it down? I think not!

So because the Northern League are so obsessed with winning the vase, they are making it unfair on other teams in the league, a competition they are responsible for, unlike the Vase!

Maybe, maybe not.

However, what is your point?

Am I saying that we'd score as many points the next level up? No, no I'm not. I'm saying that we'd have still signed more or less the same players that we signed for this season - in response to your basically wrong argument that we'd struggle to get a decent squad together in no time.

Just give that one up, and concentrate on other stuff.

Here's a question for you northernlad. A simple yes or no will suffice. Do you think all teams should have been allowed to play until 17th May (or whatever the date is)?

It was my understanding that the clubs can request these postponements. You're probably right - had we been in the Vase we may well have used this rule - partially because we don't have the bankroll to effectively have two full teams on our books.

I'd bet, even if we were getting ready for Wembley Saturday after next, as you are, that we would've finished our fixtures at the same time as everyone else - in time for the previously stated deadline. As Tunbridge are doing (regardless of their league position or how many games they play in a season). As Guernsey are doing despite the insane travelling involved in that. I can't claim to know how many other competitions either club are involved in, but the fact is they have found the will and the way to get their houses in order in the time they were told to.

Why couldn't you finish your fixtures in time?
