Read on a FB update that Barrow fans ( and players ) were confronted and attacked by
Atherstone "fans" in yesterday's FA cup match at the half time interval , can't believe that these Chavs/ hooligans exist this far down the perimid even at part time level !!

It's also covered in the Non-League Paper. Disgraceful behaviour by some of the Atherstone fans.
Also in this week's edition of the Non-League Paper under "City Axe For Big Exodus", Exodus Geohaghon has been sacked by Worcester City for refusing to play in an FA Cup tie because he was concerned that being cup-tied would harm his chances of moving on later in the season - that's loyalty for you!

I think that something went on at the Hednesford game yesterday as well. Idiots on the pitch was the tweet...from our favourite club - West Auckland.

Re Big Ex. The episode on the bus back from Hinckley (?) where X starts singing his infamous "pay me up Mr Chairman song" is mentioned a few times in Ray Simpson's new book. Disgraceful behaviour and possible the thing that tipped Singh over the edge.
X seems to think the grass is always greener on the other side of the hill. If I was a footballer I wouldn't want him as a team mate.
Mr Singh said this " I'm not expecting to get back any of the money I've already put in, I'm prepared to write it off for the future of the club. I'm not hanging in to make any kind of financial gain in the short or long term - if someone was prepared to come in and take the club off my hands, I'd be more than willing to discuss it"

Looks like one of their flags was torn to pieces and burnt yesterday too. Anyone fancy showing a bit of solidarity and giving something back after Jan 2012, chip in for a new flag?

Aye I'll stick a tenner in as well especially after Barrow's gesture previously. Are We are talking about a supporter's flag here aren't we?
When I initially read it I thought it meant a corner flag!

Not very impressed with the way that article is written to be honest. Firstly I doubt that any of the people who did these actions have ever attended an Atherstone match in their lives, one of them actually being a Newcastle United fan seems to back that up.
Whilst I admit that getting the flares in whilst other supporters were being searched does shoulder some blame on the home stewards. Saying that what can you do if a group of people have in their heads they are going to run across the pitch and start throwing punches?
Was Atherstone v Barrow really going to be viewed as a high risk fixture?
