Re: Goal Music
Yeah! Too "commercial"!! Let's be alternative! FFS, it's a celebratory song when we score. Only darlo fans could complain that it isn't exactly suited to their needs.
Re: Goal Music
Goal music is for TV audiences with s***/no fans.
Horrible.

Tim, you can't even look after a £500 phone so why should anyone listen to you about music?
What would you prefer? Dancing queen by abba?

It's a manufactured attempt to americanise our sport. And it's completely unnecessary - you can't beat the spontaneous roar of the crowd when the ball hits the back of the net. The sooner it disappears from memory, the better.

Re: Goal Music
Goal music won't be used in the future according to Scott.

@darlouncovered:

Re: Goal Music
The goal music was brought back after many requests from fans and last season I was asked by the board to look at a way for it to return. With my superb quick thinking, 12 months later we have the technology to enable this to happen.
I knew that it would cause some discussion as it is very much a marmite subject. I have had word today that the board and management liked the music and felt it added to the atmosphere. I guess it is not really up to me whether it goes so will continue until I discuss it with the club, hence my retracted statement about it no longer being played.
I did think of an idea of playing different songs depending on who scores. Wonderwall for purewal, golden brown for Scott etc.
Thank god we didn't bring in the Darlo divas eating hot dogs, you would have gone into spasm if that happened.

I'd prefer none at all, why want or need it? What is so good about goal music? It drowns out the REAL atmosphere made by the fans.
Re: Goal Music
Absolute load of bollocks. In no way shape or form does the music drown out 1500 fans. Get over it many people like it and think of others. Loads of kids were loving the musicBig Tim wrote:Bless.Fatty eats roadkill wrote:Tim, you can't even look after a £500 phone so why should anyone listen to you about music?

Re: Goal Music
But it's an unnecessary addition. And I'm not sure if it adds anything to the atmosphere or kids enjoyment - My 10 year old thinks it's a bit pathetic.

Would that be the ear shattering wall of noise that was missing from the match yesterday?Big Tim wrote:Bless.Fatty eats roadkill wrote:Tim, you can't even look after a £500 phone so why should anyone listen to you about music?

Re: Goal Music
It's a crappy attempt to orchestrate a response to a goal being scored. If you need music to prompt you into a response, you're watching the wrong sport.
Plus, it's another reason why old buggers like me loathe modern football. Humbug.

Re: Goal Music
Not a fan of goal music, just watched our goals back and can hear a roar from the fans when we scored each time then the music goes on.
Personally I like listening to the fans roar but the goal music just seems wrong.

Re: Goal Music
There is a compromise here.
That is to play goal music when we score 3 or more goals. That means we won't hear it too often, and when it does get played we will all be so deliriously happy that it won't matter that it sounds crap.

Agree with Tim on this one. Generic and artificial.

Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”

Re: Goal Music
Really don't care if there is goal music or not, a club tune for the team coming out is always great to hear.
Tbh the atmosphere this season in general from the Tin shed has been low key and we really could do with that improving to help the players, last season you could easily see the players respond to the noise and lift themselves on the odd occasion we needed it.
As it is we are entering 2014 on a decent unbeaten streak, long may it continue

Re: Goal Music
I like the goal music, always have done, always will do.
People that complain about it are similar to the insufferable music snobs that you avoid talking to down the pub, or at a party, or on an "off topic" forum - you know the type - it's not proper music unless it's some obscure band from some obscure village with a cult following of 31 people, and no fucker else has ever heard of them. Popular chart music is the spawn of the devil, and the entire conversation devolves into a kind of reverse popularity contest - the more shite, no mark, unpopular bands you can think of and "rate", the better a person you are. A reverse keep up with the Jones.
Back onto the goal music, no it's not a manufactured attempt to artificially increase the atmosphere, what a load of shite that is.
It is an addition to the atmosphere and goal roar, and keeps it going a little longer. First the crowd roars, then the music kicks in. You can't beat jigging along to the beat, going "do, do, dee, dah do, do, do, dee dah do" whilst raising your right arm then left arm simultaneously with the beat and flicking the Vs at the away supporters.
What is wrong with you people?
