"Powerful" isn't a word I ever thought to attach to him!
Interesting news shows how well he is doing in League Two anyway.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
The lad might have bulked up with age. My main criticism of him was his lack of strength, and bottle to stick his head where it hurts in the box. If he's solved that problem then he could do well for himself because he did have some good ingredients in there.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Do we have any sell on clauses for him?
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
I think we have something. I don't think we have an awful lot else for Smith other than sell ons.

Be a bit of a dumb move to a club odds on to be in the Skrill next season.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
I believe we have a sell-on clause, amongst an appearance blocks clause in his contract.
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Wonder if it is profit/sales price based.Darlofan97 wrote:I believe we have a sell-on clause, amongst an appearance blocks clause in his contract.
Think we sold him for £80k. Can't imagine where Northampton would find that sort of money but I might be wrong?
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
And again there is speculation around fees due to the club. You would think after the dan burn appearance saga, and the request from MJ, that there would be some restraint

Rumour is that he has signed for Swindon for £200k.

BBC Wiltshire reporting it on their Twitter feed. Seems to be true.
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
So he returns to play for Mark Cooper...and another windfall for us. Happy days.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
How much do we get from this sell on fee?
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
There is a sell on but I can't remember what it was. Wouldn't be unrealistic to assume 15% though which at 50% gives us 15K - better than a slap in the face I guess.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Hopefully we get something but either way good luck to the lad.
If we do get say £15k and then achieve 50k in the squareknot then this last month has been massive in turning this club round and removing the pressure that as been on Cash Flow since May 2012 when we took the this on.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Seems like £200K is an exaggeration though - £75K being banded around on various forums
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Complete speculation here because I appreciate any terms may be bound by confidentiality.
There are 2 scenarios with sell on. It will either be a percentage of future profit or a percentage of fee.
I think we sold Michael Smith to Charlton for an initial fee of £80,000. The majority of other transfers which are public I'd say sell ons are generally 10% or 15%.
If it is a £200,000 transfer fee then we could get anything from £6,000 (10% and it's purely on the £120k profit) to £15,000 (straight up 15% of £200k).
It is more likely I think with Smith that it will be a deal rising to £200k based on addons. The figure Divas has plugged from other forums of £75k probably feels a bit more realistic (it would see us get anything from £0 or £5,625 depending on terms). We would of course be entitled to a share of any of the money due to Charlton should the addons be met.
I don't expect we will find out anything publicly until the accounts are released for the year. It is just another boost along the way if we do get something though.

The creditors will be very happy. Meanwhile lets try to raise money for the new ground.
let's get a new FA. This one's broken.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Is it 15% after the creditors have there share or do we have to have that amount?
Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
We won't know lewis. The information will be subject to confidentiality this is all just speculation.lewis1k89 wrote:Is it 15% after the creditors have there share or do we have to have that amount?
We are entitled to 50% of all the sell ons though. So if it is a 15% sell on we will get 7.5%.
Realistically all the money we get will actually go to creditors whilst we still have them! 50% of it goes via Harvey Madden (to the creditors we didn't take on) and the other 50% goes via us (to the creditors we did take on).

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
Seems to be 100k initially rising to 200k with sell on clause etc.
No idea if we get anything and I guess we probably won’t find out, it may well be in the accounts but not sure if they ever break things down to the level of where every penny has come from of if it is just included in Income.

I think we will have got something.
It should show up in the P&L on the accounts possibly under player sales I'd imagine. It won't be a huge amount but should keep us ticking over a bit longer!

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
I have not seen last years official accounts, not sure if the shareholders got a set handed to them at the AGM. I have no idea how much they have been broken down, the nearest I have seen is forums and squareknots which didn't break income down to that level.lo36789 wrote:I think we will have got something.

Why can't this kind of info be made available ? Seeing as we're a a fan owned club what's the problem ?super_les_mcjannet wrote:No idea if we get anything and I guess we probably won’t find out, it may well be in the accounts but not sure if they ever break things down to the level of where every penny has come from of if it is just included in Income.

Re: Michael Smith to be sold by Charlton?
If the buying and selling club agree at the time that the details will remain confidential then it doesn't matter who owns either club, they are just sticking to the agreement.theoriginalfatcat wrote:Why can't this kind of info be made available ?
