Gell is one that has been mentioned from a couple of people in the NL world, have heard one other name but not from the club so time will tell (easy way out for me but true).

Fairly confident Gray will know what we need and think he will get the players in he wants this year, I don't believe we will have the unsettled first half of the season we had this year.

Ramshaw won't drop down I don't think. Seems to be getting a good run of late in the Gateshead team.

Great signing. I reckon it'll be fisher that leaves (if a striker does depart)

Now time to sort out our Midfield! Would love Gott back personally.

I thought we might have gone for the lad scoring all the goals at Guisborough - is it Johnson? Sounds like Armstrong has even better credentials though!

I don't know what we are missing in CM. On paper 2 of Robinson, Galbraith, Scott and Davis seems absolutely sound. (EDIT: just realised that since we play with a 3 in centre-midfield that is how we have ended up with Brown and Tait in there this season!).

Looking at our squad now we have 19 players - we seem a bit top heavy though.

GK 1 from Bell/Jameson
RB Brown
CB 2 from Hunter/White/Tait
LB Walker
CM 3 from Robinson/Davis/Galbraith/Scott
AM 1 from Thompson/Mitchell/Hopson
ST 2 from Dowson/Ward/Fisher/Purewal/Armstrong

Even if we were looking to go 4-4-2.

GK 1 from Bell Jameson
RB Brown
CB 2 from Hunter/White/Tait
LB Walker
RM Mitchell
CM 2 from Robinson/Davis/Galbraith/Scott/Hopson
LM Thompson
ST 2 from Downson/Ward/Fisher/Purewal/Armstrong

I'd say Ward was brought in as a target man, as an alternative to Purewal if you like, not a clinical finisher.

Graeme Armstrong seems to be a very strong signing on paper. Scored 29 goals (no penalties) last season in the league above. A player who will add some know-how and experience up top, which is something that we didn't really have much of.

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone in the forward department moved on now. Probably Fisher who seems to have his critics. I think people are being harsh on a player who came to us half-fit and has, for the majority of his time here, had to feed off substitute appearances. He's scored 9 goals for us and I believe he will score more next season, should he be here. He's shown flashes here and there, that said, we aren't exactly in a position to be able to afford to be carrying 5 very good forwards at this level (Dowson/Purewal/Armstrong/Ward/Fisher).

As Gray has said, a couple more to come in. Heard some names, including a winger which certainly would be an interesting move by Gray. Can see us signing at least one centre midfielder.

As for Tait, I can't see him being here next season sadly. Fantastic player but, as with the forwards, we can't afford to be carrying 4/5 very good ones. I'd have Brown/Hunter/White as the centre backs with Robinson being used in a defensive midfielder role.

I think we need to bin one of our strikers, and replace with a CM. We then have a balanced team capable of winning the league next season.

I'd also maybe bring in an established full back (e.g. Harrison)

Because he replaced a player who scored goals, it might have made financial sense, but to replace someone who was fit and scoring, with someone half fit and hadnt played for a while didnt look a great plan.

However, weve scored enough goals really, I think weve struggled to break down the better, more organised sides, our plan B isnt too good.As such I think the midfield is where we need to concentrate our tinkering..

I would be a bit loathe to lose him since I see him as out best centre-back. I actually think if I were to put an order I would go Tait, Hunter, White, Brown but Browny is our skipper.

As I detailed above. I wonder if Brown could end up being our RB rather than CB. I am pretty sure Walker came as a RB/LB. If he goes over to LB we have quite a good balance and more than enough room for Tait - we probably wouldn't need another CM either!

I never ever got the signing of fisher at all, i got blasted on here when i vented my anger as he was signed. His stats are dismal compared to the likes of AJ, whom despite playing less goals probably scored more goals. Stats speak for themselfs. I'll be glad to see him go. Had one good season years ago and never rekindled that scoring record since.

Anyone nice to see someone with a bit of a scoring pedigree signed, ( i wish we had kept AJ mind his stats still better those of Armstrong )

How many goals has AJ scored in the Evostick Premier League like?

You did have the luxury of not having to budget balance whilst keeping AJ and not signing Fisher in your team.

Many, me included hoped Fisher would hit similar standards (if not better as just dropped down from the conference) to AJ. This would also release money for an extra player when the club was struggling for cash as the hoped for attendances were not as high in reality.

I would have AJ back but anyone who thinks he could turn a game on his own, didn't see him when he came on at Ramsbottom away (didn't get a kick). Not just his fault, he wasn't a dominant forward but was a genuine goal getter around the box.

What's this? Destroy Nathan Fisher week?

The lad hardly got a run in the team and still scored 9 from the bench. He can score 20-30 next season.

He scored 13 in the Conference one season at Gateshead. You'll have to remind me how Andy Johnson's Conference stats compare, cos I can't remember?

Wayne Phillips from Spenny just announced he will be leaving them this summer.

Even if Tait leaves, we've still got 3 central defenders who would be among the best in the league. White made team of the season, Hunter impressed everyone, and we know how good Brown is in central defence.

What I don't want to see, is Gray shoehorning players in just to get them a game - it clearly didn't work with Brown and the team was weakened as a result. If we have 4 top quality central defenders then inevitably one of them wil be pushed in at full-back or in midfield and the money would be better spent on signing a specialist to play in that position.

The last winger we got from Spennymoor - Chris Moore - was bombed out by us after a couple of months.

Certainly did, always felt he didn't support defensively enough.

Phillips is a good attacker but can't say seen enough of him and he may just be leaving as does not want to play Evostick.

it all still really depends on the formation as to who he goes after. I've seen us play well and poorly using both 4-4-2 and 4-3-1-2.

For whoever mentioned Danny Johnson at Guisborough, I think Carlisle, Boro and Hartlepool are all sniffing around him

I'm getting fed up with the way some of the drivel that gets posted on here about AJ.

A good player and an excellent finisher (that's not in doubt) but he didn't have the all round game and was ditched to cut costs. Nor could he change a game on his own, as the likes of Thompson can.

Now he's the go to figure if we're doing badly. "If only we had AJ blah", "His scoring stats are amazing yada," "Dowson/Ward/Purewal/Fisher/Thompson hasn't scored in a while - AJ would have."

Thoroughly fed up with people knocking our forward line (which would be the envy of most sides in the Evo Stik Prem, let alone D1 North). It's pathetic and embarrassing.

There was an article in the Echo recently confirming that Johnson was playing his last game for Guisborough and that he was attracting attention from football league clubs - it mentioned one but can't remember which.

Danny Johnson has also tweeted something along the lines of possibly played my last game for Guisborough and will see where the summer takes him.

Pretty sure he will get a trial professionally if not a contract.

Re "AJ" I would go along with the above. To some he seems to have acquired almost super hero status, but based on not much more than the fact his name sounds good when it's shortened to initials.

But as to which one of our strikers will now leave, I'm not sure.

I would be surprised if we signed another winger, although I think that this depends on if we get Adam Mitchell signed up for next season or not.
