Army
Re: Arnie
Hopefully he recovers quickly!
Has been such a huge player for us all season and having already played in the Evo Prem should be able to keep up the scoring next season.

Re: Arnie
Blimey - hope he gets better soon. He's been phenomenal this season - in my mind he's the most complete striker we've had since we got dropped down the leagues. Him and Cartman look like the makings of a classic strike partnership.
P.S I always thought it was Army, not Arnie?!

It is Army not Arnie. And if anyone makes the "He'll be back" joke, they deserve a slapping.al_quaker wrote: P.S I always thought it was Army, not Arnie?!
Re: Arnie
Get well soon Graeme, the injury sounds horrific. Hopefully he's back on his feet soon, real shame he missed out on the celebrations.

Re: Arnie
I wondered why when they scored the second goal he was away from the celebrations. Been immense this season and surely running Portas close for player of the season. Would like to get a glimpse of him and Amar playing together.

Get well soon, Big Dave, he looked in a lot of distress on the touchline, I thought all was not well...

Re: Arnie
Reading about the injury, it sounds pretty nasty. From the Echo's report:
Makes me feel queasy just reading it.It turns out that when the keeper’s knee went into my chest my pancreas has pushed against my spine and spliced it into two parts.

He scored the goal. The injury happened after. What have you been watching?
For you to insult me, I must first value your opinion.
Re: Arnie
I think Amar and Armstrong did play together for a few games and they looked good. Both tall, neither are that slow, both pretty alert in and around the box.Ingleby wrote:You wondered why he was away from celebrations of the second goal?tezza wrote:I wondered why when they scored the second goal he was away from the celebrations. Re: Army
They started 13 league games together this season, scoring a total of 20 goals between them in those games. There were only two games where both of them started and neither of them scored.

Re: Army
It's just as well he got himself off to hospital and is now being properly treated for the injury. You wouldn't want to be wandering around with that kind of damage and thinking it's just soreness from the blow. It doesn't bear thinking about. He is the type of player who goes in where it hurts and never shirks a challenge. His goals and all-round play have been vital in what we achieved this season and he's a top bloke to boot. Hope he's soon on the mend.

If he was going to get a serious injury, he certainly couldn't have picked a better time. I'm sure that the season break will do him the world of good.

Re: Army
Thanks for everything this season Army, & get yourself fit again for next season. BUT be sure to take advice & not rush back before you are really over this. Don't want to lose you long term through the season because you rushed back too soon. Get well soon.
Re: Army
Reading up on the injury puts into perspective how serious it is. Hopefully it repairs itself without the need for surgery which apparently can be very complex indeed, but if performed well, it thankfully can mean the patient can return to a normal life.

I'd echo the above sentiments that Graeme ensures he's 100% before even thinking about returning.

Re: Army
Any news how he's doing,my Mrs. is worried about him!
Re: Army
Hmmm, good luck to him I hope it goes well.
This sounds like a very nasty injury, and guessing here - I'm thinking it could mean a very long recuperation, because you can't mess about with internal organs and football is a contact sport.
I'm thinking it could mean we start the season without Armstrong and Purewal, who are a quality strikeforce.

I'd hazard a guess that the HITMAN may be kept on for this reason - he can fulfill a similar role if he is fit enough.Quakerz wrote:Hmmm, good luck to him I hope it goes well.

Otherwise we're looking at a Dowson/Cartman combo and while they're both very good, we'd need to alter our playing style to suit them.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Seems like he should make a full recovery but the recovery time looks long. 3 weeks until he can walk fully and 4 weeks until the drains are taken out according to the article.

Re: Army
It'll be a tough situation for Gray if, as expected both Armstrong and Purewal are missing at the start of the season. You don't really want to have to sign anyone else permanently as where would they fit in once those 2 return from injury.
As Spyman points out, keeping Hatch on a short term deal would possibly be the answer.

Would Hatch expect to settle for a short term contract? I think he deserves better.

Re: Army
Thommo to play up front as an out and out striker and use someone else to fulfill Thommo's role in midfield maybe?
Come on Darlo!
