Darlo v York

Post by JE93 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 6:02 am

Looking at the echo article seems like this game may be one of the first indications of what our starting 11 may look like on the opening day v Buxton. I think it may start like this:

Jameson

Staunch, Burgess, Hunter, Galbraith.

Mitchell, Portas, Turnbull, Thompson.

Cartman, Nowakowski.

Give the lad Staunch a good 55-60 mins at RB see if he's the kind of player we could be looking at to replace Brown. Then if possible bring Brown on at RB for the last 30 mins. Maybe the last time he would play for us and would be good for it to happen against decent opposition, and give him the reception he deserves. By all account the Portas, Turnbull partnership was a class about at Harrogate, really think that could be the strongest CM partnership in the Division. Worth giving Burgess and Hunter some Game time together. White is a known quantity to us all so will be good to see what this partnership is like. Upfront, could go Cartman and Nowakowski or Cartman and Dowson. I went with Nowakowski because Personally I always prefer atleast one big strong target man style striker, but im old fashioned like that (despite my age).

Looking at the weather forecast today and the amount of rain that's fallen it wouldn't surprise me if the game is called off.

The rain has stopped for now in Darlo, but it's threatening to start again at any minute.

We need the Board to issue a statement about this ASAP.

Live in York these days so keep an eye on the team. Got mullered by Harrogate Town a couple of days ago and most of the forward line are already injured.

Not sure what quality the team they send will be, got the barcodes in a home friendly on Wednesday so expect it'll be the kids with a few first team fringe players.

Absolutely lashing down in bishop at the minute will have a look over the fence shortly and get abit more of a idea of how the pitch looks

Just been for a look and in my opinion there looks like there standing water starting to appear around the middle of the pitch towards centre circle and other parts. Hopefully it isn't that bad but it hasn't stopped raining for a while now and it doesn't look like its going to let up either

Good job there's segregation. The 21 York fans (10 kids) look like a nasty bunch.

York City line-up v Darlington: Ingham, Player A, Swan, Nolan, Ilesanmi, Carson, Godfrey, Platt, Rzonca, Player B, Meikle.

Second string players (Ingham, Platt), players coming back from injury (Carson, Nolan, Swan) and transfer listed (Meikle, Ilesanmi). The rest are kids/trialists.

Just got back I have seen all the pre season games so far and was without doubt the best performance so far, controlled the game for the most part cant remember them having a shot in the first half, even with a raft of changes in the second we were still looking good. We are really missing Armstrong up front though, McNamee did ok at RB, thought Ryan Brobbel had an excellent game. Very positive night.

Bit wary of Brobbel don't think he was particularly good for Hartlepool last season. By not very good I mean the bunker suggested he was a complete and utter waste of space. Appreciate it is a bit of a drop though and it could be his level.

Report from tonight now on official site.

http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk/dar ... york-city/

Thought we managed quite well against a York side which from the sounds of it was made up of reserves, a couple of trialists and quite a few players who have recently returned from injury.

Turnbull looks like taking the mantle from White/Brown at the back as organising the defence. Very impressed.

I've only seen tonight and the Sunderland game, but Thommo has been fantastic in both.

Bring on Buxton!

Seems a bit harsh, but I didn't rate any of the trialists. McNamee was probably the best of an average bunch. Brobbel showed some promise but not defo not good enough to be a first teamer.

Portas and Turnbull outstanding.
Thought the effort and closing down as a team unit was excellent.....as for tommo Simon (didnt see Sunderland admittedly) but didnt see wht he contributed apart from his cracking strike outside the box.

How many headers Cartman won was unreal for such a small guy up frnt against some really big lads at the back.

Great performance last night. We really dominated the game and the passing was excellent. Thought the defence played really well and gave York very few sights on goal. Thought the crowd was disappointing, I think it was 344, although the elements and the £10 entry fee, will have put some people off.

Good match last night, competitive and played at decent tempo unlike the usual pre-season fare.

Brobbel impressed me.

Brobbel looked different class. Cartman exceptional as was burgess. York had some very useful players. I'm becoming more excited with every game. The only dark cloud is the impact of the Blackwell situation.

You're both easily pleased. I thought Brobbel was average at best. No trick, no change of pace, didn't deliver a cross all match. Struggling to see what you saw in him.
