Yes there was certainly pandamonium that night. but fantastic performance over the 2 games by Darlo against supposedly far better than our opponents.
Re: Boro 85
Interesting night is an understatement ! I've never seen so many hooligans fighting. The battle on the cricket pitch was epic. Utter madness......

They didn't seem to like getting beat.

I used to be a programme seller at the ground, at the polam end, and remember having a police escort back to the office.
I also used to live close to the railway line between Boro and Darlo and remember seeing a train absolutely jam packed with Boro supporters going to the match.

I remember that some of the fencing poles had been removed from the cricket pitch and were being used as weapons. I lived in Victoria Road at the time and a Boro fan threw a 50p piece through my front room window. Apart from the fighting it was a great match
Re: Boro 85
I was 14 years old the cup match stood in the clockend darlo scored. then all hell broke loose me and i few school mates got jumped and so had to start fighting back.I ended up getting nicked so never saw the end of the match.
Walking to the cell who did i see one of my teachers he was locked up too he was a boro fan I never said a word at school just kept it between me and him.
After that day i never seemed to get homework
Both matches were mad but that was thing back then i did not see it but everyone goes on about the cricket pitch and the ropes wish i had seen it.
Story goes both fans were running at each other it was dark and they did not see the ropes and loads of people were falling all over the place.

The first match at Ayresome Park was pretty good as well. We outplayed Boro and the Darlo support there was fantastic.
Re: Boro 85
One of my earliest games. The atmosphere was (obviously) absolutely electric, if a little too violent for my young eyes. There were reports of a lad walking through town with a meat hook hanging out of his shoulder that night, don't know to this day if it was true but it wouldn't have surprised me
