Re: The Second Coming
Yup
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883
Re: The Second Coming
I always had a feeling once Brown went back to playing at NL level he'd regret it, it's just not competitive for a lad like him.
It's still surprising though as he was saying how much he was enjoying fatherhood and spending time at home after work.

Most midweek games (away) are fiished now, perhaps that might have something to do with it..divas wrote:I always had a feeling once Brown went back to playing at NL level he'd regret it, it's just not competitive for a lad like him.

More good news if true following on from the Wilson Kneeshaw signing

Re: The Second Coming
First off, if Brown is coming back then I think that's great in terms of improving our team but...
Didn't Shildon pay a fee for him? Can't see them just letting him go for free and how can we justify shelling out £££ when we are over spending on our squad by £50k per year versus income?
Also we don't need another CB/RB, especially if we have to pay a fee.
Another factor, it would be more prudent to wait and see what our points deduction is. 13 pts pretty much kills our season and in that case why add to our wage bill.
Ultimately its the fans that have to cover this over spending on our squad, along with stumping up more cash to fund BM move. I'd prefer a more prudent approach to our playing budget.

Re: The Second Coming
As ever a rumour until proven otherwise.
That being said we have missed him in the centre of defence, with the greatest of respect to Kev Burgess I do like the lad but I'd have Brownie in ahead of him any day.
However until it comes from an official source "I heard" isn't good enough.

Agree with that, where is Burgess? I know he was injured but I am sure he was meant to be playing against Mossley but didn't see him at the groundquaker4life wrote:As ever a rumour until proven otherwise.

Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund. I'd have White ahead of all of them in the middle. Brown would go in at right back for me.quaker4life wrote:As ever a rumour until proven otherwise.

Not entirely, I'd be more than confident Darlo could make the playoffs even with such a deduction.Robbie Painter wrote: Another factor, it would be more prudent to wait and see what our points deduction is. 13 pts pretty much kills our season and in that case why add to our wage bill.

Re: The Second Coming
A few people have said the same, never fancied Brownie at right back personally prefer him in the centre leading the line.Spyman wrote:I'd have White ahead of all of them in the middle. Brown would go in at right back for me.quaker4life wrote:As ever a rumour until proven otherwise.

That being said, other than Stephen Harrison, I can't recall the last time we had an "orthodox" right back!

13 Point deduction, FFS where's this then? I've not been around much this season

Pilates and that Jack (can't even remember his surname) were orthodox right backs...they just weren't particularly good at it.quaker4life wrote:That being said, other than Stephen Harrison, I can't recall the last time we had an "orthodox" right back!

I didn't prefer him in the centre when he was like Bambi on ice against Kendal, and had to be subbed early because of it.quaker4life wrote:A few people have said the same, never fancied Brownie at right back personally prefer him in the centre leading the line.Spyman wrote:I'd have White ahead of all of them in the middle. A back-line with him at right back, and Hunter and White in the centre worked really well for us last season and I'd be happy if he returned. It's certainly better than playing Gibbons/Hunter/Mitchell at right back.
But all this is based on one cryptic post so it's merely conjecture.

I'd forgotten about Bruno Pilatos. What happened to him?
