I set my hopes low so I won't get as disapointed if we have a bad finish.

Supporting DARLO might be a heartache but it's a heartache I chose to have.

Somewhere in the bottom half. League 2 is always an absolute bitch to predict though...

12th
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
I have to agree with some posters in thinking we will finish 15th. Anything above that for me , will be a bonus.
At least this season we are all agreed that our expectations are not too high, and hopefully we can suprise a few people.
Well here`s hoping anyway.

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
I've gone for about 15th as well, but just grateful that we can have such a poll.

Started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left.
Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
What a bunch of soft c****. "Oh 15th/18th, just grateful to have a club bler bler fucking bler" Have some b****** ambition will you.
Look we have a wily old strikeforce, Windass will get goals, we have potentially one of the best centre midfields in the league, we have Foster and Miller in defence, the full back positions look a lot stronger now and Todd will yet get 3 or 4 more players in on loan (a defender a winger and a forward.)
When those players are added to increase our depth and taking into account that we are playing in a poor league this year, PLUS the fact that we have LOADS of young uns coming through and they WILL be used rather than ignored, and I can see us top half comfortably and with luck on the injury front a play off position is possible.
Anyway I'm used to playing for promtion over the last 5 years, I could never settle for boring bottom half.

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
Next season will be 25th, and last, season supporting Darlo - so I don't give a s*** where we finish.
Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
Why bother even going if you have already decided not to support us anymore?

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
I don't really see us finishing higher than mid-table. I will be content with that, but I do agree in some way with Quakerz - with a bit of luck and if we gell together quickly we have the makings of a decent team and our youth players are pretty good too!
COME ON DARLO!

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
Would love to share Q's optimism, but I'm pretty much with those in the 12th/13th/14th camp.
We're neither poor enough to worry about relegation *if* we can add a couple more faces, use long-term loans, keep key players fit, etc, but good enough to challenge for the play-offs/automatic promotion. I just think it's too much of an ask given everything that's gone on.
Maybe that's a smart plan; get through 09/10 and see if we can put something together that can make a more serious challenge in 10/11?

To be honest you won't be missed if your last memorable incident on Rivals is anything to go by...Fandy wrote:Next season will be 25th, and last, season supporting Darlo - so I don't give a s*** where we finish.

Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
14th I reckon.
Re: Season 2009/10 Poll
If CT can pull a rabbit out of the hat and bring in Waghorn and Franks (which is looking increasingly unlikely), then play offs are a realistic. If we dont bring in anyone else I would say round 14-15th.
Sorry if mark Convery is going to play a pivotal part next season, no disresepct to the lad but we wont be good enough for top half

Surprised we haven't had Graeme Owens in on trial.
