Frickley Athletic VS Darlington FC (Integro L Cup)

Post by poppyfield » Mon Nov 30, 2015 11:36 am

I think we should use our strongest team available for this one, we need a win to get us back winning ways, November has been a poor month for results.
There is a debate as whether we should play Thompson or Kneeshaw, I would play them both, in a 4 4 2 formation. From what I have seen in the games he has started Nowakowski has played well so he would get the nod over Scott, without Turnbull (who is a massive miss) we are definitely lacking a bit of creativity in the middle, you could argue for Galbraith in there and put Scott/Callaghan at LB, but for me Galbraith is a better defender and better going forward than Scott/Callaghan.
I would go for,

Jameson,
Brown Burgess Hunter Galbraith,
Thompson Portas Nowakowski Kneeshaw,
Cartman Gaskell,
Subs, Armstrong Scott Mitchell Dowson (Gibbons or Callaghan)

For me, the last thing we need to be doing is putting key first teamers into this meaningless game in an irrelevant competition.

If someone like Cartman or Jameson got injured in a game like this, that would be very frustrating. So it's not worth the risk.

Youth teamers and fringe players from the senior squad are who we should put in here IMO.

Looking at the weather for the week and the rain we've had in Bishop today there will be no game this Saturday.

If tomorrow's game goes ahead I would be giving the first team a run out.

In the Echo today Gray is quoted as saying it will be a youth team for this game.

Right call .

I hope we play a reasonably strong team tonight, if nothing else but to blow away the cobwebs.

Frickley have a strong starting 11 out tonight, apart from Griffen and Thomas they were all in the squad for last Saturdays draw with Hyde, be a good test for our lads.

Brown scored goals 2 & 3. Martin Gray's 16 year old son Jonty is on the bench.

Is this for real? Brown scoring, twice. Lads fighting back from 1 down to go 3-1 up and away from home. Speilberg could not have scripted it.
