I don't normally get a chance to go to away games, but it's been that long since I played 3 or 4 of us are planning to go next Saturday, weather permitting.

Doncaster is en-route when going by train, any decent beer and food establishments near the station?

Come out of the train station, head into Frenchgate (shopping centre) - Up the heskey-lators, there is a pub there called The Mallard. Half decent pub and grub. Further up, there's the usual places like McDonalds, KFC, Burger King.

Frickley are pretty much a local derby for us in this league (1hr 20min approx), the weather certainly looks better this week than last so hopefully we will get a game on.

I'm sure that Frickley will be very keen to get our game on, as it's a decent potential money spinner for them.

Hopefully Frickley have a cover for their pitch, as looks like they'll need it, to protect the pitch from the cold weather coming up.

Hopefully the game will go ahead, think we will take a fair number down, being our first game for a while and one of our closer away games

I have a mate who lives only 15 mins from the ground, he is very hopeful seeing pitch that they can get this game on.
He has been to see the landlord of The Tank (Village WMC) and they will be happy to see any darlo fans in there, its 0.7 miles from the ground, address is off Doncaster road South Elmsall WF9 2HX, its 2 mins walk from railway station, just past petrol station, and opposite Friar Tucks chippy.
As the ground bar is quite small a good alternative place for a few pints !

Thanks for that Rob, sounds like a plan. Looking at the weather forecast for the Frickley area, the lowest temperature between now and kick-off is -1C degrees. So hopefully the game will get the go ahead.

There's the "Tap" on Sheffield station if you travel Transpennine/East Midlands along the Hope Valley Line and then Wakefield Line to Moorthorpe, or there's Leeds if you travel on the Huddersfield Line then either branch of the Wakefield line to Moorthorpe or South Elmsall.

If you like a Good cheap pint of Sam smiths then the Pretoria Sports and Social club is on the road (Westfield Lane) up to the ground 2 mins from the station....£1.80 Bitter £2.08 lager. I'm sure they will be happy to see a few fans in there and there is decent parking behind and it's a fair size inside...

I must be older than you went in when it was the pheasant. It was known as pensioners beer because it was cheap and weak.

The larger is 4.5.. Beer 4.0 so it's not that weak, there is a perception of if its cheap it's s*** but that is not the case in my opinion...

Looks like they are giving the game every chance.

Thursday evening's Frickley Academy Under 19's home game against Glasshoughton Welfare has been postponed.
This is to prevent damage to the pitch ahead of Saturday's First Team game against Darlington, given the recent weather conditions and the forecast between now and the weekend.

Sam Smith's, if well looked after, is a decent pint. Trouble is, with so much pressurised pond water about these days, it's only the old codger landlords who know how to look after it.
