Only interested in Nantwich on Tuesday night to be honest.

No doubt there will be a lot of people there who don't always come to home games. Historically we've attracted larger away followings, than we sometimes normally get at home.

Re: Whitby away
1200+ bank holiday, not too far, feel good factor back with the results and ground announcement. Lot of Yorkshire based fans. As stated we do have a good away following what was it at Guisbrough in Northern league for that tuesday game 1100 or so we took. The only thing I can suggest that might deter people will be the traffic as half of Yorkshire, Teeside will be heading for the coast if weather good

Re: Whitby away
Long range weather forecast doesn't look brilliant, so hopefully that will deter a few visitors clogging up the roads going to Whitby.
Re: Whitby away
To be fair people were saying we took 1000-1100 to blyth then the next home game we get less than 1000.My opinion wrote:We don't get that for a home gameDarlo_Pete wrote:1500+The Quaker wrote:With it just over a week away how many will we take

Re: Whitby away
We took a good chunk up to Blyth. At least 800/900!
Re: Whitby away
What's it like for food and drink down there??
I suppose there's no shortage of places for fish and chips but what about a quiet pint or two? I know the cricket club is on the same land but not sure how big it is and assume it'll be chocker shortly.

I think all the boozers will be chocker on a bank holiday Monday, especially when you add a load of Darlo fans to the mix.ian_brown wrote:What's it like for food and drink down there??

Re: Whitby away
Pub at the bottom of the Abbey steps is a "good-un". The Max hotel next to ground used to have a large bar with real ale and bar meals.
I expect about 700-1,000 Darlo to attend, the higher figure if fans take their families to the game on a nice day.
Weather forecast is rain though, in which case the lower figure is more like it.

The cricket pavilion is their bar - 30 people in it and it'll be rammed !ian_brown wrote:What's it like for food and drink down there??

And its not usually open either, but I have mentioned to my friends at Whitby CC it would be worth opening, even as a bottle bar.
Whitby FCs bar is a reasonable size, but wouldnt cope over 100 darlo fans in my opinion.
There is a chippy 30 seconds from the ground, as well as an off licence.

Re: Whitby away
Dont go to many games these days, personal reasons and family stuff...
Took my girlfriend to Blyth just after Xmas and she is driving to Whitby on Monday, her 4yo daughter also wants to come as well...For a woman that once stated she would goto football 'over her dead cold body' not bad

Re: Whitby away
I'm bringing 3 extra that don't normally come to Darlo games, 2 of them are at uni and live normally out of the immediate Darlo area.

Let's just hope everyone behaves themselves, but with no Boro game, this has the potential to be lively.
Re: Whitby away
Short hop from York for me, so booked the day off especially. First Darlo match in bloody ages!

Re: Whitby away
Probably people like me - last 6 away games, not been to a home game for about 2 maybe 3 years (never been a fan of home games since we left feethams). I have reasons, maybe the odd weak excuse, but fuck it - I'm back in love with the club and I'm going, regardless of what tits like you think.HarrytheQuaker wrote:I'm not having a go at u ... And I will also be investing - plenty if circumstances permit.

Plenty of reasons why people don't go to home games but still donate money to the club via other aveunes.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Love it people who don't go to HP , can manage to go to Whitby and give them money !!!

Re: Whitby away
I do worry about this game, it has the potential to be a 'Scarborough/Blyth, if the small hooligan element turn up, this can cause us untold damage not only from a league point of view but as we enter this crucial stage of fund raising our club profile could be damaged. I just hope that there is a robust plan in place to deal with any trouble makers in the ground and in Whitby its self.
If anybody knows of potential trouble makers planning to go 'like the bus at the Blyth match' please contact the club, lets have a great day out for all the right reasons.

Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund.
