Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Keep your fingers crossed folks!
@TurnbullTweeter
The match referee is expected to arrive around 10.30am. The pitch will then be inspected, it continues to rain here.
@TurnbullTweeter
Whitby Town Football Club cannot move the kick off time back unfortunately, that decision was made by North Yorkshire Police. It must be 1pm

They could have made it 9.30 so those of us on the train would be saved a wasted journey

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
A lot of fans will be almost at Whitby, if not already there be 10-30. I'm setting off at 9-30. If you leave at 10-30 given the expected traffic, you'll be struggling to get to Whitby by 12-30.
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Joke of a timing. Does the match referee know it's a 1pm kick off?
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
This could well backfire. The police make it an early kick-off to avoid drinking before the game. Now if it gets called off, as expected, at 10.30, there'll be loads of fans drinking instead of the game now. Bit of flexibility would help here.

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Hopefully if the pitch is questionable at 10-30, given the weather forecast, he or she will call for another pitch inspection say at 11-45. We desperately need this game to be on.

It's been raining all night in Whitby - not sounding very promising. Anyone already there who can go and look over the fence?

Here's what the view over the fence looks like...
@AndyClarke5
Arrived in Whitby and it's pretty grim... Doesn't look good. @Official_Darlo @TurnbullTweeter

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
The pictures a forgery they look like our puddles at Heritage Park. I'm not falling for it.
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
They can't play it tomorrow night can they? Otherwise, we will be weather beaten this year. Too many games in too short a period. The only good thing is that Whitby are in the same boat.

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
If it is called off I wonder the two clubs can get there heads together and get it rearranged for this Wednesday, I know its short notice but where there's a will! Otherwise it will be another Thursday game which is not ideal when we are playing Tuesdays nights as well.
Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund. That would be sensible. Whitby have no free Tuesdays either. You just know it will be Thursday 14th April.poppyfield wrote:If it is called off I wonder the two clubs can get there heads together and get it rearranged for this Wednesday, I know its short notice but where there's a will! @TurnbullTweeter
Large puddles on the Turnbull Ground in the Upgang Lane/Peregrine House corner, still raining heavily. Pitch inspection 10.30am.

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
I know it's not ideal, but on a purely selfish note that would mean I get four games in the week I'm up there. Have already booked trains & B&B for the three home games 12th / 16th / 19th April. However, if it does turn out that way the squad will deserve anything they get this season and will definitely deserve their summer break.Vodka_Vic wrote:That would be sensible. Thank you for the offers of help regarding the pitch. It is still raining heavily here and anyone going on currently would make it worse.

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
I was so looking forward to this game taking place on a balmy spring day, with a slight breeze and warm sunshine to add to the heady atmosphere of a bumper crowd and a memorable victory taking us to the top of the pile. Sadly it's looking more like another wash-out with the only slight consolation that it may lead to a one week break for the team during a pretty hectic schedule, allowing a couple of injuries to clear up and giving Blyth the chance to slip up against Workington.
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Is that the boat floating in the middle of the pitch?Vodka_Vic wrote:They can't play it tomorrow night can they? Otherwise, we will be weather beaten this year. Too many games in too short a period. The only good thing is that Whitby are in the same boat.
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
The puddles on that photo look pretty grim.
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Presumably they would need police "consent" when it comes to any re-arrangement despite the fact it would not be a Bank Holiday? Category A game and all that?

I suspect that one or two Darlo fans will be pointing their cars North if this game is off, and going up to cheer Workington on.en passant wrote:I was so looking forward to this game taking place on a balmy spring day, with a slight breeze and warm sunshine to add to the heady atmosphere of a bumper crowd and a memorable victory taking us to the top of the pile. Doesn't look hopeful at all, if Blyth win then they'll be in a strong position considering the amount of games we will have to play in such a short time.
Come on Darlo!

Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
theres no way this game will be on judging by the photo of the pitch
Re: Whitby away - pitch inspection @ 10:30am
Why didn't the inspection place at 9am? It is ridiculous for it to take place only 2.5 hours before the game.
