There's a Wetherspoons in the high street, and another nice looking pub over the road from it (but we ran out of time, so didn't make it in). Club house was welcoming enough.

MOCA BAR is a good bar to go to-we went there last season
A good contemporary bar, not overly impregnated by ostentatious affluents or Sunday supplement hipsters but rather a discreetly relaxed and convivial atmosphere.7- 8 ales on offer taken from the likes of Oakham, Abbeydale and Blue Monkey breweries served by pleasant, attentive staff. Definitely worth. seeking out.

There was also another ale "bar" on the opposite side to Moca, can't remember what it was called but the Real Alers enjoyed it.
The pub opposite the Spoons in town evidently didn't do real ale, I never got in the door before the stampede coming out started. Something to do with "it's only John fucking Smiths".
Nice little town though.

Bar at Matlock has real ales and you can drink outside while the game is on.
