David frost documentary

Post by uncovered » Mon Jan 16, 2017 9:32 pm

Hi, I have received the following, can anybody help?

Hi, there.
I tried to register on the Darlo fans forum, but wasn't able to get on. (I'm a Hearts fan!)

I was looking for a little bit of help, and wondered if you could please advise/assist.

My pal is the son of ex Darlington manager, Ralph Brand - Ralph is getting on in years, and Ralph's son, Paul, is looking for things to keep Ralph occupied, and is searching for a copy of the documentary David Frost made about Darlington back in the 1970s.

If you happen to know where we could find a copy, we would be extremely grateful if you could let us know - or, if you could find it on your heart to post a thread on the Darlo forum on the topic, that would be great too.

I can be contacted by email at knox110@btinternet

Don't worry if you can't help - it is a bit of a long shot.
Anyhoo - thanks for your time.
'mon the Quakers!
Allan Knox.

Wasn't it shown in the Dolphin Centre just the other year, presume Ray Simpson would know who arranged and can put them in touch.

Chris Lloyd from the Echo organised a screening if it, he'd know where to find a copy.

I tried to get a copy of the documentary on DVD direct from ITV back in 2010:

This is the request that I sent to viewers.requests@itv.com

Dear ITN:

Is it possible to get a copy of

Frost Programme - Darlington Football Club

LWT Production

Series Title: Frost Programme (1972)

Series ID: Y046

Production ID: 9C/02526

Programme ID: L0401

First Transmission Date: 25/03/1973

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

and here is the reply that I received:

Thanks for your enquiry and apologies for the delay in replying.

It should be possible to produce and supply a one-off DVD copy of this programme for private & personal use for a charge of £145.00.

If you’d like to go ahead please mail me your full postal address and I’ll then send you a Licence Agreement form to sign.

Regards

Robin Bray

Programme Copy Sales

ITV plc

Attached was the various paperwork that was required in order to proceed.

£145 seemed a lot at the time - I think I posted here on the message board to see if anyone would like to split the cost but didn't receive any response.

Hope that this helps.

you could ask the very helpful 44 years to make you a copy! Think the cost of a pint would cover it.

I have a clear memory of David Frost plodding along the touchline beside the East Stand in at camel colour coat, looking as if he didn't want to get his shoes muddy. Don't know what year it was. I wasn't very old and neither was he.
