New Signing Dale Milburn
New Signing Dale Milburn
Bit surprised no one has commented on this signing the first College kid to sign a contract surely this is good news for the future? Interesting comment from MG " he is a number 10 he could play off a big striker he is small in stature but he's clever" Looks like Beck has a place for the next few years! Let' hope with a surname like that there is something in his bloodline!
Re: New Signing Dale Milburn
This signing looked more like a free advertisement for MGFA. Good luck to him but he's hardly the first young lad to sign in recent years is he.
For you to insult me, I must first value your opinion.

That's why I didn't bring this up. I'm sure MGFA sign up plenty of players every season and Dale is just one of those. Having said that I hope the lad has a long successful career with us. It would be great if the MGFA provided a line of players that came through to the first team squad.
Re: New Signing Dale Milburn
Not sure you are correct Pete isn't the point about this signing is he actually signed for the football club via the college set up which is different to other signings? See Echo report last Friday this is different. What MG gets out of it is a different story I guess.

I would think that from next season going forward our youngsters will go the route of MG's College - Darlo Reserves - Darlo 1st team squad. I'd also like to see more of our fringe squad players/recovering fitness etc play in the Reserves.
Come on Darlo!

From what I remember, Colin Milburn was a burly great cricketerbga wrote:Bit surprised no one has commented on this signing the first College kid to sign a contract surely this is good news for the future? Also as well as this lad we have Harvey Saunders who looked a talent with his pace when he played for about 15 minutes recently.

Re: New Signing Dale Milburn
At least we have 2 lads who will be training with the first team squad and getting regular outings for the reserves against adults. With the usual frequency of injuries and suspensions they may get some run-outs with the first team.
Although our current league is physical young players have a chance to "jump in at the deep end" and progress their careers with Darlo.
With signing on fees, transfer fees, agent fees, high wages and the defections experienced with professional journeymen striker signings, it is worth trying to grow our own attacking talent.
If Darlo become fully pro, then having some cheaper players available in the first team squad will take the strain off the wage bill.
Of course some really good kids can be sold more readily, after good performances in the first XI, but that would just be some icing on the cake.

Agreed I think this is a positive move by the club in building for the future.MikeinBlack2 wrote:I would think that from next season going forward our youngsters will go the route of MG's College - Darlo Reserves - Darlo 1st team squad. Robbie and loan_star you have criticised the cynicism but not offered your own thoughts as to whether this is a good move by the club?
