Steve Watson - 2 year contract confirmed

Post by PierremontQuaker03 » Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:06 am

Fantastic news, now we can continue to build without the speculation of is he staying or going.

Great start to the weekend.

This is the turning point for the club, fan engagement I think will be bigger , this gives a new prospective to the club. we now have to back the management duo so let's dig for a really good BTH ,a couple of really good signings and away we go.

Brilliant news :D

He wouldn’t have signed if he’d had reservations about future progress.

We need to set a target that will give the management sufficient funds to get into play-offs. £200,000 to £250,000.
We are the owners and need to dig deep. Every year we congratulate ourselves on how much we raise in BTB. Very commendable but
not enough, the mid season BTB shows the potential the owners can raise in a year and there is not going to be an investor who some keep
squawking on about, so it is down to us to raise the quarter million needed.
18 months ago we were top of this league and fell away because we couldn't offer Beck enough to stay till the end of the season or get a suitable
replacement. We do not need a major rebuilding of our team, a few quality additions and we can look forward to an exciting new season without
any downplaying of our prospects like the beginning of this season.

Very positive move by the club. Encouraging that Watson has stated the squad only needs a few tweaks over the summer to make us competitive, and that promotion over the next couple of seasons is the aim. Whether thats realistic/sensible is neither hear nor there but its the right message and a 180 change on the messaging that was coming out of the club 12 months ago.

Great news. Hopefully we can continue the good form and push up towards the playoffs next season. Certainly if we replicate our form from the end of this season it is possible.

It's excellent news and a positive step by the club. Hopefully, assurances have been made on future ambitions.

Great interview. Talking about promotion aims 'You hear a lot of managers playing it down, I'm not going to play it down, that's what we have to aim for'. No doom and gloom about our chances next season and beyond. Makes a world of difference.

Completely different attitude to Mr Morose at the start of the season, and Gowling who talked a good game, but couldn’t deliver. Hopefully, Terry will be next signing and a few useful additions to the playing ranks, and we can look forward to a much better showing next season.

I'm not sure we'd be contracting our assistant - could be wrong but usually they just come with the manager at our level.

It doesn't matter what's normal at this level, we need to contract them both. Plus the Watson announcement suggests that's what we're doing anyways.

P.S. Excellent news

Very good point and actually got the impression Rose would have been as well.

We clearly do contract our assistants!

Do we do the rest of the coaching staff as well?

Yes, Rose was contracted too.

In terms of other coaching staff, I’m not too sure. They may be more self-employed & provide their services to the club on a self-employed basis given their limited contact time with the players, but that is just me with a guesstimate of the situation!
