New kit pictures up on the official site
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Forgot to mention - this being announced tosday is strange, as I had a dream last night that the new club was released and I was in the club shop buying one. Last seasons shirts were on sale for £10 with a name and number (in my dream).

Shirt design wasn't discussed at that meeting - we were far more into the future of the Club.wylam_rangers wrote:Earl_Lee_Dawes wrote:It says that fans were consulted on the new kit. I don't recall any consultation. Having said that, it looks OK, but I still prefer hoops!
If my memory serves me right, when they realised we couldn't have hoops this year, the club said that fans will be consulted over a kit involving hoops next year.
That said, the fans meeting with Raj a few weeks ago involving the Trust, Supporters Club + I think Scott was there? - might have discussed kit.
If anyone on here has been involved I'm sure we'll get to hear.
Have to say that I rather like the look of the new shirt - the lack of red is a distinct advantage.

Started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left.
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
I love it, ill be buying it for sure, i know it doesn't have hoops as most seem to like. But it's not as if the hoops have really ever given us much luck apart from the Little days, and that was two decades ago.
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Echo is carrying a picture of the shirt with BLACK shorts and black & white hooped socks, looks very smartdickdarlington wrote:Yeah, which fans did they consult? Because it wasn't Darlo fans.
I think it looks really smart. Hopefully with black shorts, though we've been advised that they are white. I like the fact there is very little red on it. Red is the colour of boro. Blue is the colour of Pools. Black and white are the colours of Darlo (along with some pub side further north )
I don't mind having the odd season here and there with no hoops on our kit. As long as they keep reverting to our unique style afterwards.
hope the numbers on th back are black with a gold edging, will look very nice indeed.

I'm another one in the 'like it' camp. New shirt-new start onwards and erm...upwards?!?
Remember. There is no I in team, but there is a U in c***. So don't be little jealous c****, ok?
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Really like it myself. Looks much more modern and swish. Plus, it's nice to have a change from the hoops which haven't really changed over the past few years. Can't wait to buy it. Now, where's this Yellow away top

Bloody typical that the first time I buy a shirt in ages we change it the next season!
I have to say I like this one a lot mind.
It reminds me a bit of my 2001 shirt.
At least I think it's 2001/02!

I like the new shirt too, aside from the hoops / no hoops debate, I prefer the more rounded neck design to the V-neck, just think they look better for some reason.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!

I really don't understand some people's over-the-top malevolence towards Conlon. He was, by and large, a good player for us. I think I'll always remember his second debut for us as one of the best performances I've seen by a Darlington player.
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Worst player ever to wear that shirt? What a ridiculous statement. Conlon was probably one of the best players to wear that shirt particularly given the team at the time.
Some people really are clueless.

A team taken from that season . . 2-2 draw with Pools. With the obvious exception of Liddle I can't see a better outfield player than Conlon . .
Darlington: Collett ,Valentine (sent off 56),Liddle ,Pearson ,Clarke ,Betts ,Maddison ,Keltie ,Nicholls ,Mellanby (Hodgson ,59 ) ,Conlon
Subs not used: Clark,Campbell,Porter,Corbett,

But the point stands that Conlon was one of the better players to wear the shirt that season. Isn't he still the clubs highest scorer since Gabbiadini?

Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
That is a particularly awful looking team, and people are moaning about the current squad.
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Of that team I'd take:
Collett
Valentine
Lidds
Maddison
Conlon
for our first team now.
Clarke and Keltie would be worth a place in the current squad. Puts this seasons squad in perspective really.

Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
I really like the new away kit, great design! I like the new home shirt too, but I have to say I'm not impressed by the loss of our hoops. Black and White hoops are something original to Darlo in terms of a kit in the football league and I would have liked to see us stick with it! But the plain design does look nice to be fair, I dare say for the first time since the 2000/2001 season I will buy both shirts from the club shop!
Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Conlon was absolutely immense in that game, infact for that whole season. He was very good in a poor side in his first spell with us. When he came back, he didn't look so good as he was in a team of competant players. I'll always have time for Bazza. He certainly isn't the parcel of shite he's made out to be by some on here.StevieMardenboro wrote:A team taken from that season . . 2-2 draw with Pools. The most frustrating aspect of Barry Conlon for me is that he was certainly capable, he just never showed it as often as he should or could have.Breedon wrote: He certainly isn't the parcel of shite he's made out to be by some on here.

Re: New kit pictures up on the official site
Had it not been for Bazza's goals we would have been relegated.
Look at his scoring record. Not much wrong with that.
We have had far, far worse strikers than him. The standing ovation he received when he was substituted a few minutes before the end of his final game in his first stint for us says how much the fans appreciated him.
