Is the first player to confirm he's staying with club via twitter.

Great news, as he's always a player you want in your starting 11, hopefully it'll encourage others to follow suit.

Or maybe the players (shock horror) realise the club is bigger than the manager?

Doesn't it make you want to put your hand in your pocket and buy that season ticket for 2017/18? :D

The Turnbull and Cartman news has prompted me to give again in the fundraising. Hopefully others will too so we can have the best possible team on the pitch, and build the stand to give those players the opportunity to win promotion.

Too many "overlapping Threads" (See Players Under Contract) on here, but since you mention this..................great news if true. However, I guess we will not know till the start of the season what position he will play in. He obviously did the job he was asked to last season, and did it well, but I think he is far happier and effective when scoring rather than creating goals. Just my view.

All 3 on 2 year deals, and Beck's contract has a 1 year option too.

And Gray sounded happy in the Echo!

Decent day today!

From MG it sounds like the Boost the Budget has made a difference already.

Great news on the 3 re-signings, which added to those players already contracted gives the fans a lot of confidence for next season. With 6 play-off places there's more chance to reach the final mix and have a decent chance to play the Poolie in the Conference proper.

The "Boost the Budget" pitch may now gain more momentum, with the current squad clearly showing their loyalty to the club.

If the club can get promotion (& a few decent cup runs?) the general public can be mobilised with our fundraising to get our facilities and finances for potential access to Football League. We can't expect the current fans to be buying more, more & more shares over the next 3-4 years.

With a continued DFC success story playing from now on a re-vamped pitch in Darlington we can expect increased income from more attending games, sponsorships, sales, lottery income & donations.

This is of course a rose tinted view, but from the experience of the last 5 years anything could happen.

Yeah completely agree. He's a finisher, that's what his role should be.

We played him out wide at times last season and he was nowhere near as effective.

According to the 1718 prologue thread, Jameson, Burgess and Portas.

Of course, it doesn't mean that those who are contracted can't be moved on.

Well Jameson will go, hopefully Portas will stay and that just leaves Burgess. I want Burgess to stay, hopefully when fit he'll be back to his old self.

Cheers. Just trying to work out the implications of a (as far as we know) ~£50k budget cut (as it stands). Falkingham gone, one of the backup keepers to go, Hardy went towards the end of last season. Wonder how much that lot would add up to.

Off season is fun isn't it :D

May 2015 was reported that Portas signed a 3 year contract so should still have another year to run?

Given that central defence is arguable our weakest position, perhaps Burgess will be one to move on and be replaced with someone more experienced.

Could well have done. All I can see is "long term contract". I wouldn't describe 2 years as particularly long term!

A midfield 4 of Turnbull Syers Portas and Scott (and Lee Hume signed a contract yesterday too) is a more than decent selection of central midfielders.

In an ideal world, we'd strengthen defensively and sign another striker. Apart from that we're pretty much set if everyone stays. Will have to be a few out for that to happen though.
