We won 4 of our last 5 games playing 4-4-2 with Gillies & Thompson on the wings and Ferguson at full-back.Beano wrote:Given our lack of a left-footers for the left wing, Ferguson seems a natural choice if we line up in a 4-4-2.

Re: New Signing
Fantastic news to get Syers signed on a new two-year deal.
Re: New Signing
Great news about Syers and Marrs.
Regarding a new midfielder, MG is always looking to improve but it'd have to be the right player so not exactly cheap. I'm not too sure how far the budget would stretch without 2/3 outgoings and I think a forward would be a priority for me.

Re: New Signing
Great to have it confirmed about Syers and Marrs. There's only question marks about Bartletts contract now. Fairly sure Ferguson would have signed for a few years given we paid a fee for him, but Bartlett could conceivably have initially signed on a short term deal. Hopefully not, as he's very good.
Feeling increasingly confident about making the playoffs next season - particularly as it's open to 6 teams next season

Re: New Signing
Unless I am mistaken Ferguson played centre midfield in his very first game for us? I also thought he ended up there for Blackpool as well.
Re: New Signing
I could be wrong but I think he played left-back in the first two games he started in 2012 (Mansfield and Bath). The rest of his appearances were as a sub. He was also predominately a LB for Blackpool from what I can remember.lo36789 wrote:Unless I am mistaken Ferguson played centre midfield in his very first game for us? Either way I think he is much more solid as a left-back and I think that shown after he signed in January.
Re: New Signing
Oh not disputing main position. Just calling out that the clamour for a centre midfielder seems strange when's I think not only do we have four out and out centre midfielders we have 2 players who can absolutely provide cover if needed.

Re: New Signing
Hope there are more signings soon, but......
With luck Portas may be up to his best and be like a new signing on his return.
Some present midfield players may have to perform to avoid being freed, or loaned out, as there may not be enough in the kitty to recruit both the midfield & attack anytime soon.
I expect there will be the usual in-season strengthening, for which MG has been very adapt, but some departures may need to happen first.
