Liddle & The Youth Side
Liddle & The Youth Side
According to the official site, Liddle has signed up three more talented youngsters.
Dan Burn, Dan Curry (I guess one of which will be that Vaisanen look-a-like ) and right winger James Baxter who had a great game against Darlo RA in pre-season. They have all joined the club as first years.
The Youth Team unfortunately were defeated at Northallerton Town 2-1 last Thursday night but bounced back with a victory against Chester Le Street Youth 3-0 the other night. Goals against Chester Le Street came from Alex Robinson, Adam Hutchinson and Sam Lomas.
They will now play a Boro Youth Side on Saturday in Hurworth, before taking on East Durham College and Waldridge Park U21's.

Sam, you seem to be clued up on the youth side of things - maybe you could do a regular feature for the site (on scott's say so of course) but it would be good to be kept in touch with the youth side of things, even if its just a result, who played and who scored that can be added to week on week
possibly this is something to add to the thread about things we want on the site.

Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
If there's to be a long-term future for Darlo - and I've rattled on long enough about the club having a "joined up writing" approach to its existence - then the youth set-up is certainly an important part to this future.
We have to accept that some good youngsters we discover and develop will be targets for bigger clubs - but which could make us some money. Other youngsters may be good enough for the level we're at. But wouldn't it be great to have 3-4 lads coming through the ranks together and who WANT to play for Darlo cos they've had a great upbringing within the club.
And what would top it off for me is if Lidds was the guy who achieved this - already a legend at the club, this would seal his sainthood.

Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
We can already see it with Main and Gray - just the buzz around having young lads who have come through our system is great.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
It's Dan Burn we got from Blyth who played for England U16. His dad is my Area Manager at work and apparently he had quite a few offers. Big lad for his age aswell at around 6'4'' by all accounts
Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
lets hope they can polish one or two of them up so we can sell them on for a nice profit. Good t osee a couple come through the ranks and move on to better things.
Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
yeah, u r right i got the wrong name, but blyth right my apologies
Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
One of the things Im really looking forward to this season is seeing the youth lads come through. There's no pressure on in terms of whether we can go up and provided we don't flirt with relegation it should be a good season for Gray and Main et al to develop.

Re: Liddle & The Youth Side
A mention too for another member of the Youth Team staff, a local lad, born n bred and Darlo through and through, he no doubt is working alongside Lid's with this success.
