Syers always involved in goals. 2-1 and sounds like he was involved again.

FT: 4-1. Three wins from three games and ten goals, can’t ask for much more than that. Today’s scorers were Caton, Gillies 2 and Ferguson.

Ferguson and Gillies joint top scorers in the league. It's a good job we keep signing strikers :)

Thompson will have to bide his time on the bench for a while!

Bit disappointing given 3 wins, 10 goals and back in town. Possibly some folk on holiday still, as quite a few empty seats in the new stand? Either that or Darlo fans have no friends ;)

Pleased that Caton got his first goal today, hopefully will take the pressure off him now as it sounded like he should have finished at least one chance on Wednesday. It also goes part way to justifying playing him as a striker.

Don't forget people like me who have cricket commitments throughout the summer (although days like this are frustrating as if the match is called off you don't have time to rearrange plans! ). I should be an extra on the attendance from mid-September onwards all being well!

Nope. We beat Salford 2-0 and then won 4-3 prior to today's game.

But we hadn't played today's game before today's game so it can't have been a consideration for people deciding whether to attend or not.

Really didn't think that would need explaining - are you spen in disguise?

Quick note on Bartlett as I felt he pulled off a great save at 2-1 and commanded his area well.

Again another solid performance by Collins, and Galbraith was very good at left-back. Turnbull was his usual self, Gillies took his goals well and Ferguson was an absolute cut above. If his performances continue then I'm sure clubs higher will be interested. It's hard to believe he was playing in the Northern League a year ago so credit to the Management team for bringing him in.

Caton gives us something different. Quick, tricky, can hold up the ball and put a cross in. He took his goal very well so great to see him off the mark.

All in all a strong showing and we reacted very well to going 1 down after a defensive mistake. Alfreton have some good players (Priestley, Wood, Disley, Platt, Westcarr) and are well financed although I don't think another goal or two would have flattered us with the chances we had.

Apart from handing them a gift after one minute, we were very impressive today. They were in tatters long before the end. There seems to be goals right across the side and Tuesday should be a cracker. Should be a very large travelling army as well.

Just a word about the pitch, there was not enough rain to really test the drainage, but enough to see if would start cutting up, pleased to say was great from start to finish, well done the grounds man.
