Even if they don't, cartman will do for me.

Had a feeling yesterday I were stood next to his mum and dad and when he were warming up he were talking quietly I thought I heard him say this is his last game(if he got on) wasn't 100% I heard it right... Bye bye

Won't be a big loss, will end up at Spennymoor or South Shields.

Re: Fenwick gone
I was chuffed when we signed Fenwick but he's looked average at best. I don't think he's good enough for Spenny either.

Would be the obvious name to be linked after the summer. Hope he does come in as by all accounts he should be a very good player at this level.dfcjosh wrote:Makes room for Fewster I guessal_quaker wrote:Wonder if someone is coming in to replace him?

Should have put young Harvey on - he always looks keen.

Re: Fenwick gone
Absolutely baffled why he played yesterday... If Gray knew, why the heck wouldn't he play Saunders? (We could have used his pace too).
Hope it's to make room for Fewster, and i hope we didn't waste a lot of money doing it... That's two that have come in, done nothing, and been moved on, and i doubt they played out of the kindness of their hearts...

Re: Fenwick gone
Not to bothered he's gone, Didn't get much of a chance in terms of game time but didn't exactly bust a gut when he was on the pitch. At no point when he was brought on yesterday did I imagine him scoring the winner. Hopefully Cartman is recalled and is sharp, at least you know what you get from Cartman and that's hard work and good movement. Something I don't think Fenwick is capable off.

Re: Fenwick gone
In terms of our attacking play, Beck has become a victim of his own success.
Mark Beck is a fantastic target man, at times totally unplayable, but we've become one-dimensional and expect him to perform miracles in terms of his output. One player cannot act as our only outlet for 90 mins, nor is he the the most mobile given his style of play.
We certainly need some support for Beck, from more regular crossing from further up the pitch (ideally getting in behind the opposition full back), as opposed to consistently hitting him early, which Ferguson (as a left footer on the left wing) did fantastically well in the early games, and also a energetic partner that will press and pressure the opposition with and without the ball.
In my opinion, a left winger (or left back if Ferguson is advanced further forward/Galbraith is best suited to centre back) is more important than another striker. I'd be happy at this stage for Caton/Cartman with Saunders as backup to fulfil the role as his foil.
Budgetary concerns aside, I don't blame the manager for trying something different as we need more goals from Beck's partner that we've had recently (I thought Hardy was going to be the answer this time last year), but the left wing position will be key to unlocking more goals from everyone.

Re: Fenwick gone
Unfortunately teams have realised that if they stop Beck they have a good chance of stopping Darlo, especially as there seems to be an unwritten rule that pushing and pulling at Beck isn't worthy of a free kick.
Re: Fenwick gone
Why should he end up at spennymoor, we have a far better team than Darlington, i always new we would catch up with you, then leave you behindAndyPark wrote:Won't be a big loss, will end up at Spennymoor or South Shields.
Re: Fenwick gone
I think if you were being honest both teams are evenly matched across the pitch. Darlo certainly have a stronger keeper line up. But I think with Curtis and Tait you have a more solid CB partnership.polarbear wrote:Why should he end up at spennymoor, we have a far better team than Darlington, i always new we would catch up with you, then leave you behindAndyPark wrote:Won't be a big loss, will end up at Spennymoor or South Shields.
One area I am surprised spenny haven't looked to improve is in goal. Lowson is okay but certainly doesn't match the quality in the rest of the team.
Re: Fenwick gone
There won't be any bites from me on this one, but you were the better team on the day. You look to be a team who have quality in all areas offensively and try to play the ball around. We are becoming a little predictable with the direct balls but we will see who is in front of one another come May.polarbear wrote:Why should he end up at spennymoor, we have a far better team than Darlington, i always new we would catch up with you, then leave you behindAndyPark wrote:Won't be a big loss, will end up at Spennymoor or South Shields.

Re: Fenwick gone
Same budget as last year - we just happen to have spent it on players who barely or have never played.
Re: Fenwick gone
Hopefully Fenwick will wash his greasy hair before signing for his next club.
Re: Fenwick gone
Must have a terrible manager then, seeing as the far better team couldn't beat the far inferior team on Monday.polarbear wrote:Why should he end up at spennymoor, we have a far better team than Darlington, i always new we would catch up with you, then leave you behindAndyPark wrote:Won't be a big loss, will end up at Spennymoor or South Shields.

Re: Fenwick gone
Almost impossible to form a judgement given the lack of game time.

If I could be bothered to bite I’d probably just ask polarbear how many consecutive games it was now since Spenny beat Darlington in a meaningful match.
But I can’t be bothered.

Fenwick looked ok preseason so I have no problem with the fact he was given a contract.
However it's impossible to make an impact in about 15 minutes of game time since.
Can even put the offsides down to being overly keen to get in on goal.

Give me a run out up front - I could get caught offside multiple times and be ineffective too!loan_star wrote:Can even put the offsides down to being overly keen to get in on goal.

Or a complete lack of positional sense and generally not being very good.loan_star wrote: Can even put the offsides down to being overly keen to get in on goal.

Obviously people better qualified thought him worthy of a chance.Darlogramps wrote:Or a complete lack of positional sense and generally not being very good.loan_star wrote: Can even put the offsides down to being overly keen to get in on goal.
