You want to ask DarloMilo about this - he loves the fact that I'm going for the weekend!

I think you should ask him all about it :p

I'll be there for them - and also a free plug for Heavens Basement who are headlining the Jagermeister stage at 6.30 on the sunday.

I think Absolute radio is covering it but i'm not too sure. On the line up I'd only want to see; Fucked up, Architects, Cancer Bats and Mastodon.

All I can say (and I know the majority don't care) but that was an awesome event, that hopefully next year will give Download a run for its money.

Saw Heavens Basement... and they weren't bad. Seen (and been impressed by) CancerBats before so didnt see the full set. Well impressed with Airbourne, Buckcherry, Limp Bizkit (though my expectations were pretty damn low to begin with), and well... Metallica didn't disappoint. Little disappointed with Saxon, and if anyone can explain why the fuck Nine Inch Nails even bother... it'd be appreciated!

really good event and well organised too! Im tanned as hell from the sun, lacking sleep, still needing to apologise to Mrs Shrews, and needing a break from the beer and Jager!!! Spent a fortune, but who cares!

Rock on Sonisphere '10!

Have to agree-awsome event.
For me the highlights were as follows:

Saturday-Heaven and Hell(right at the front for this)
Airbourne-the ne AC/DC-couldn't believe the lead guitarist climbing up the sound poles at the side!!
Bjorn Again-especially when they played "Enter sandman"
Linkin Park-just one hell of a professional performance.

Sunday-Metallica(of course-the 2 hour set just flashed by)
Lamb of God-met 2 of the band members in VIP-cool!!
Mastodon/Saxon-best two bands on Saturn stage over the weekend.
Corey Taylor-simply awsome in the Bohemia tent-should have been at least on the Saturn Stage
Lauren Harris-Steve Smith's daughter out of Iron Maiden.

On he downside-no real ale-and Carlsburg at £3.60 a bit of a rip off!!

Forgot all about Mastodon. They were very impressive. Not sure if I missed something with Saxon, because while the energy and effort was there, it just didn't seem to be quite right. to be fair though, I was very very well back, perhaps acoustics weren't great, because plenty of others gave them raving reviews.

All in all, (NIN aside! I really don't understand why they are rated so highly) I don't think I saw a bad band throughout the whole weekend. Couldn't drag myself to see Bjorn Again... what was that like Ozzman?

And yes, the lack of Ale was deeply disappointing.

I was near the front for both Saxon and Mastodon-sound was great.
Since i've senn both bands quite a few times(lost count on Saxon) I know the music quite well which helps.
Bjorn Again were very good-went down well with the audience.

The two bands which disappoited me were as you said NIN-why they were on the main stage I'll never know and The Used-they just spent too much time slagging off Metallica and ripping the F**K out of Bjorn Again appearence at Sonisphere.

Was Mastodon's set a mix of old and new or was it most of the stuff from the new album?

did no one see mevshero they are a quality band and will probably break big style this year.
For those who liked heavens basement they are supporting papa roach at newcastle later in the year.

The used are quite possibly ive ever seen live at download a few years ago.

You really need to see them on their tour - first half is the whole of Crack The Skye which is the best album I've heard for many years and then the second is a variety of old numbers.

Mastodon are the one bright light in a very boring rock/metal world these days - far too many mediocre bands around...

They do put on a good show, I remember seeing them at newcastle just after Blood Mountain came out and I think they played that in their entire set with older material as encore.

Can't argue that. Can see Mastodon going a long way, but Airborne were probably my band of the festival TBH. Metallica lived up to expectations, as did most bands. But Airborne surprised me a lot.

As for the Used... well don't get me started Ozzman! I heard them from a distance and think the prententious little shites need a New Rock up their backsides!

And who the hell were that "oompah band" that were playing rock covers. I thought that was possibly the funniest thing I heard all weekend!

Nice to be home to a pint of proper beer. Had a pint of Timothy Taylor's shortly after getting back, and the sensation of taste... in a glass was overwhelming. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone enjoys Carlsberg!!!
