We also got something from Bishop just after initial season we agreed a reduction in rent which was put in place, rather than so much of beer sales which was a pain to sort out.

Lee Gaskell played against Shields at Colne last night but couldn't get on the scoresheet as Shields won 2-1. South Shields lost their keeper, Liam Connell, to injury and Jack Norton took over in goal. They are top of the league with seven wins from eight games (one defeat) and 18 goals scored with 8 against.

I don't understand why folks have to be so childish that they're not going to give the rugby club money. At the end of the day, they didn't have to let us move in. Christ, i'd rather give my money to Darlington Rugby Club than most chains like Wetherspoons. They're a small sports club from the same town, people on both sides (because i've seen some rugby lot snipe about it a bit as well) need to grow up.

Regarding the booking, i would think it's probably ended up being cancelled or moved because ultimately, most people if they want a day time event somewhere like that, probably don't want a football match with 2,000 people in the background. I would have thought the only thing the Rugby club should maybe do is tell people there is the potential there could be a game on that day (particularly FA cup game days & Tuesday nights) and warn them they'll either have to pay more (surely they'll make a fair few quid when hundreds of football fans buy a pint) or move to another day. It also makes sense for them, because i'd imagine that wasn't a nice phone call for whoever it was, having to explain there was a football match on the day of their private event, which suddenly just got a lot less private....

Apparently they are bringing 8 coaches to the game on Saturday and there is a bit of a who ha about where to park them as BM can only accommodate 3 coaches apparently.

Erm..I think if they have sold 600 and that is 3/4...Then my guess would be 800

Where has it been stated that they have been given 800?

The away end holds 600.

It's easy enough to just extend the barrier round towards the seated stand and provide more space for away fans. Hopefully they sell all 800. I can see 850-1000 darlo fans.

If you go for the better side fo that equation that would be 1800. If all payed an average of £12 (Inc. ticket, 50/50 programmes, beer) that would be £21,600 in revenue. Then split that 45/45/10 which means £9760 to the club + possible prize money of £4,500. = 14,260 in revenue. We need this money and the chance to further earn in later rounds.

I'd stick mostly with the team from today:

Bartlett
Marrs, Collins, Vaulks, Galbraith
Gillies, Turnbull, Wheatley, Ferguson
Beck, Caton/Saunders

Am sure Burgess will be available for selection as his ban will take effect after Saturday.Bit worried about Collins as he appeared to be struggling a bit towards the end.Interesting that neither Caton or Scott made the bench last night ?Scotty has missed a few games this season , could be his work commitments which just restricts MG's options even further.

Did Vaulks play for his previous club in an earlier round ? In which case he wil be cup tied.
Burgess should be available, suspensions don't kick in for 7 days at our level.

Why are you including beer, 50/50 and programmes in the average spend which is split 45/45/10? Any profit we make from those is wholly ours. Not that I imagine that there is much profit from the programme sales and our beer cut.

It's safer to just work out the potential gate income from an average of £9-10 gate price. So say £18,000 max on a 1,800 gate, before the split. And don't forget you have to pay officials before the 45/45/10. We'd get a max of £8000 as our gate cut, which 20% VAT is due on, so in reality we will be lucky to net much more than 6 grand - fuck all.

Forget the potential 4.5k winnings, we do stuff like this all the time where we say if we win x we win y prize money, then never do.

It's £6000 and a very big maybe £10000 we wouldn't get a few seasons ago when we couldn't enter the competition.

6 grand will be more than welcome - we could have got someone away who only get 200 or so at home which really would have been next to nothing coming in!

Hopefully last nights result and performance will encourage a few more to get to the Dolphin Centre and buy tickets for Saturday.

If South Shields don't sell out I wonder if we could make it pay on the gate?

I see general sales tickets are now available on line

Hopefully this is pushed hard on social media - saves people the hassle of getting to QR over lunchtime, so hopefully increases the attendance on Saturday

I thought the away end held 800, and when Halifax came for our first game at BM they only sold 500, hence not a full capacity

They got 600. I remember, as they claimed 600 was nowhere near enough on their official site. And then didn't sell 600

I presume the barrier will be moved closer to the seats than normal to make the away end hold 800.

The away end holds 600 and Halifax sold around 350.

Obviously we can give away teams more than 600 by giving them the corners if we want

Don't give them all the corners they will have more chance of scoringImage

It holds a lot more now we have the grassy bank, not that we can use it. Spennymoor brought 400 and it looked empty.

Shields have just over 100 tickets left so nearly 700 sold.

Hopefully we can get about 1k there minimum especially with the online tickets on sale up to 11pm on Fri night.

700 and something is a decent following. Can't remember when there would have been so many away fans at a game. Don't think Spennymoor have ever brought that many, so would it be going back to the Arena days?

Sunderland in a friendly at HP or York at the Arena, last couple I can remember.
