Maybe it's taking them longer than they thought to sort out all the questions they probably never bargained on receiving?H1987 wrote:Tuned in at the start and still waiting. *sigh*

"When did you first get any contact from York"
"Saturday night, Sunday morning"....
Which one is it Martin? (I don't think anyone believes that answer either...).

Said the first contact he had from York saying they were interested was Saturday night/Sunday morning?

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Basically confirmed he's going to try and poach some of our better players
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
But ignored the part of the question about whether any compensation will be payable to DFC.al_quaker wrote:Basically confirmed he's going to try and poach some of our better players

Which was very annoying. Maybe quite telling toobiccynana wrote:But ignored the part of the question about whether any compensation will be payable to DFC.al_quaker wrote:Basically confirmed he's going to try and poach some of our better players

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Blaming lack of investment for new players as the reason why he left.
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
He would be interested in our players if they would improve the York team
Believed the club needed an injection of players (unclear if he asked and was told no)
Tendered his resignation in person to Tempest & Johnson Sunday morning.
Dodged the compensation question (interviewer should have persisted on this point imo.)

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Bloody Tees. Waffle on for ages and then cut Gray off because they ran of time. Bunch of clowns
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Stopped working so i missed a bit of that. Interviewer then admitted he had to stop him because he had to go to the news as the programme had overrun (probably because they waffled on about Boro & Pools for ages longer than they were probably meant to).
Hopefully they'll upload it later, but hopefully others can summarise.

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
The presenter just cut the programme short as he was trying to stick the knife in us being fan owned, again.
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Aren’t clubs supposed to go through the other club’s chairman/board to get permission to speak to a manager? According to MG he was contacted by YCFC first and only then met Tempest and Johnston and tendered his resignation.
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Didn't think he came across well there at all. I missed a couple of minutes before that question as my internet or the BBC website decided to fail. I'll assume he dodged the compensation claim altogether.Mr_Tibbs wrote:The presenter just cut the programme short as he was trying to stick the knife in us being fan owned, again.
Sounds dodgy as hell. The York bit sounded like a lie "Saturday evening.... Sunday morning". Well Martin it was one of the two, and i wonder if a little alarm bell went in his head while he was saying it, realising that if he admitted it was Saturday night before he tendered his resignation he might be in a little trouble, if he didn't admit to our directors he was going to York.
I might be reading a little too much into it, and generally wish him well, but i want whats best for the club. If he's been tapped up by York for the job, we are due fair compensation. I'm fine with him having personal ambitions, and hold no grudges. We owe a huge amount to him for where we are, but also, he now has a pro job because Darlington took a chance on him.
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
So, basically he wanted yet more money, it wasn't forthcoming (obviously, the last two gates were 1,200!) so he split.
And he just happened to resign and York just happened to contact him later that day. I'm having trouble believing that one.
We're just a laughing stock anyway.

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Don’t think the Radio Tees lot will be troubling the Pulitzer judges. Talk about an easy ride. They let MG ignore the question of compensation, accepted a pretty pat answer about going after DFC players, and did not push him on the chronology.
Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
It's all well and good for a manager to criticise a club for being fan owned and tell the club that it needs investors, but there aren't any credible investors about, so why can't he just leave it be?Mr_Tibbs wrote:The presenter just cut the programme short as he was trying to stick the knife in us being fan owned, again.
Fuck, I'm now glad he's gone.
Bring in a manager that sees Darlo as a step up and is happy to work with our more than adequate budget.

You can rarely rely on local radio or newspapers to do any kind of digging at all. If we want an answer to compensation question then we as supporters will have to get it from the only people who are answerable to us, the board.biccynana wrote:Don’t think the Radio Tees lot will be troubling the Pulitzer judges. Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight
Absolutely agree, but it’s a long time since I listened to Tees (or any local radio) so I wasn’t quite prepared for just how soft those kid gloves were going to be.Yarblockos wrote:You can rarely rely on local radio or newspapers to do any kind of digging at all. And yet, earlier in the season, he said he was happy with the team and the new players he'd got...Quakerz wrote:So, basically he wanted yet more money, it wasn't forthcoming (obviously, the last two gates were 1,200!) so he split.
