Bob Hardisty and the 1948 Olympics

Post by satchmo76 » Thu Oct 05, 2017 1:31 pm

Next year is the 70th anniversary of Bob playing in the 1948 Olympics. He was at that time registered as a Darlo player and he played all four of GB's games in full (390 minutes).

This is a great article by Harry Pearson the team and the tournament:

Interesting piece.

Why was Hardisty registered with Darlington for those 3 seasons if he only played 6 games?

Why did he not stay or return to Bishop Auckland?

This is a great book on the 1948 'Austerity' Olympics - a real collaborative effort to get the games on - well recommended.

An interesting article here too:

A different breed in those days...
