Team v Stockport

Well now we know who is staying and going time to start thinking about tomorrow and the team we can field. Turnbull has already talked about a change of style and with that I think we might see a change of formation. With no big striker to play upfront I'd quite like to see us change to a 4-2-3-1. If he's fit I think brown has to play. I'd like to see us line up:

Bartlett

Marrs, Brown, Collins, Galbraith

Turnbull, Wheatley

Dawson, Syers, Gillies

Cartman

Subs: Ed, Vaulks, Scott, Portas, Saunders

Brown said he is injured and will be in the technical area.

I wonder if Burgess might make a comeback? Probably need Galbraith at LB now Ferguson has gone

But apart from that, I'd probably go with that team. Although Cartman on his own up front looks a bit weak. Hopefully Syers can rediscover last seasons form if we're going to play a bit more football.

Burgess is still suspended.

Stockport are a big strong team.

I went to see them at the first game of the season where Spennymoor 'wanted it more' than them, and the Stockport fans started to turn against their own players.

I'm sure we could beat them - if we can get it together.

Can't have Brown and Turnbull both playing leaving nobody on the sideline to make decisions but as said above Brown has already stated he will be on the touch line for Saturday. It's a free hit on Saturday for us. Whatever the result as long as there is effort from every player it's an improvement on recent weeks. Good chance to stick our young lads Vaulks and Saunders in for a look but first game in charge for Turnbull and Brown I'd expect them to go for as much experience as possible.

Control the ball and the midfield, keep it tight and on the deck. Please.

For me the team we have now will not be good enough tomorrow to beat Stockport especially with Warburton up front for them among others they are a big side BUT if we get it down and play it and we give 100% then you never know... I really hope we put up a good fight and get at least a point.. Good luck lads come on Darlo

9-man FC United beat them the other day, so I'm sure we CAN beat them. Whether we will or not is another question.

Anyone know if the mysterious Portuguese player actually signed/arrived?

Do people actually think that playing Cartman alone up front is a sensible option, or is this due to lack of alternatives? Cartman is a player who feeds on scraps and knock downs. He doesn't have great pace or great strength. I can't think of a striker less suited to playing up front on his own.

What sort of height is he?

I'd play Vaulks alongside Collins from the start.

Didn't he play up front alone for Harrogate Railway when he scored all his goals?

But a role he played successfully, and hasn't played since. Perhaps Martin never got the best out of him.

Bartlett,
Marrs Collins Galbraith Scott,
Dawson Wheatley Turnbull Gillies,
Vaulks Cartman,

Vaulks is quick good on the ball and can certainly score a goal. Yea I know he hasn't played there before he's young but trust in youth.

Lets stick a young unproven centre half upfront.

HAHAHAHA.

I presume you just got Vaulks and Saunders mixed up.

At least I hope you did.

No not at all, Stockport are a big side , so I was trying to think who have we got with a bit of height to partner Cartman, Saunders/Thompson don't fit the bill Syers is tall but can't win a header, White was used as a makeshift striker he did ok.
We have been playing hoof ball for a number of seasons to expect us to suddenly play it on the deck is a bit of a stretch.
Anyway I don't expect Brown/Turnbull to go that way but, I would like to see Vaulks start alongside Collins and Galbraith to revert to LB.
Looking forward to this game, the players will be up for this no question.

Well Mendes has never played with this team. Cartman is the sensible option. Besides, the formation in suggesting isn't really a lone striker. When attacking it almost becomes a 4-3-3.

Team for today: Bartlett, Marrs, Collins, Galbraith, Scott, Turnbull, Portas, Thompson, Gillies, Cartman, Saunders.

Bench: Ed, Vaulks, Wheatley, Syers, Dawson

Looks like 4-4-2 to me. Scott at LB and Galbraith CB.

We're going to have to be careful getting the ball out of defence today. Big job for centre mids, as we can't be slinging it long and asking cartman and Saunders to win it.

Beck is either out of favour after this week, being protected for the transfer, being rested to improve his injury or just flat out injured. Take your pick.

Well we are trying but with no height up front it's proving difficult
