New manager poll
Re: New manager poll
It sounds to me that if we are potentially appointing our new manger on Sunday that he is currently in a job?

Re: New manager poll
Tom Wade has not been mentioned. Did a great job at Blyth. Knows the non league players. Beleive he took Wearmouth to Blyth from Bishop. Was at Ashington with Arnison until mid week. Both recently left.

Think it's Hugh, Pugh, etc?
Re: New manager poll
He's attending the game as a scout apparently.Darlospike wrote:Arnison? Harmison it was, ex England seemer.windyforce4 wrote:Tom Wade has not been mentioned. Did a great job at Blyth. Re: New manager poll
Hardly heavily linked.. Mentioned... Why would he leave Blyth the way they are playing at the moment..Quakers83 wrote:Alun Armstrong now heavily linked according to the Echo.
Re: New manager poll
Given that Stoddart has advised that the 7 interviews have been concluded, the manager is set to be announced in the next couple of days, and Armstrong is a 'much better bet' than Tommy Wright despite Blyth's recent statement then yes I'd say heavily linked is the right word.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Hardly heavily linked.. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen, but he has been advised by two good sources apparently.
Let's see what happens.
Re: New manager poll
Not sure that even Bertie Bassett would be applying for this massive job. Needs someone with ambition, talent and the backing of the fans once they get here (soon, I hope!)
Re: New manager poll
As for Armstrong, his contract only runs until the end of this season at Blyth and he has done fantastically well with them.
Although they're flying at the moment, I'd love to see him here.

Alun Armstrong confirmed, just not publicly.

My opinion, I stand corrected. 50 years of singing the wrong name!

Re: New manager poll
Just googled who is Alun Armstrong & the first thing that came up is a picture of him and Martin Gray teamed up outside a soccer academy in 2012.

Re: New manager poll
If it is him he could always do a MG and bring a couple of players from Blyth
Re: New manager poll
I'd be delighted if it was him.
Tommy Wright - hasn't done well enough at Nuneaton
Chris Hardy- would he have the contacts?
Hignett - poor spell at Pools.
Alun Armstrong - up and coming, done great at Blyth. Flying this year despite a worse team than us on paper, could well have the Boro contacts, well respected, has an academy but is not a surly bugger. Would be well chuffed actually. Unlike the others, there are no question marks for me.

Notwithstanding the fact that he was a very talented footballer. Would be a tremendous asset for bringing on Saunders.

I'd be delighted if it was Armstrong, it certainly would add spice to the game at Blyth in 2 weeks time.

Knowing our luck we'll accidentally appoint the actor Alun Armstrong instead.

Imagine pretending you had sources at the club. You're worse than roadrunner.Radar wrote:Alun Armstrong confirmed, just not publicly.
Armstrong may or may not be the new manager - but judging by your post history, you're definitely taking a flyer.
