Ivan Toney just come on for Wigan. Was amazing in the pre-season friendly against Newcastle youth.

Think he was from Hartlepool, played right back / right midfield in friendlies and looked really good to be honest, confident on the ball, strong and with some skill and vision, was surprised he was released (just my opinion of course). May be that MG did not like something about him personally (we have lost a few good players I think due to that).

I don't think he was ever contracted to us. Think he was training with us whilst trying to get a full time contract which he subsequently did.

always more to signing players than meet the eye. who's to say the player wasn't impressed with any offer we made or another club stepped in with another offer etc etc
