Would be a useful boost to the coffers, but not optimistic given the forecast.

I think a Sunday fixture will attract a better crowd than a Saturday at this time of the year.

BBC weather forecast -1 for Saturday night and cloud Sunday morning. Still, early doors yet, not out of the question it will be on.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Problem is that any inspection would have to be early Sunday morning about 8:30, as Salford will have to set off by 9 to get here for a 1pm KO. Will this give enough time for the pitch to thaw out?

It's forecast to be only 1 degrees at 9am on Sunday mprning, so the game must be in some doubt.

It looks like it's getting warmer by Sunday and looks like Rain so fingers crossed the game is on

Current BBC forecast is a minimum of -2 overnight, rising to 0 at 7.00 and 2 by 9.00. Up to 6 by lunchtime, but perhaps too late?

The odds are stacked very much against this one. Another Siberian frost last night and one on the way tonight. The thaw looks to be a few hours too late, unlucky.

Just been out to walk the dog and my optimism about tomorrow’s game has reduced somewhat! Bone hard out there now and not due to be above 2C all day. Whilst tomorrow looks warmer I’m not sure it’ll be enough.

The pitch had quite a bit of standing water on it yesterday.

Looks like Wednesday night would be the best option this week temperature would be ok.

What's the chance of delaying the kick off till at least 3pm??

There must be a reason it's at 1pm... Seems an odd time to me. 3 would give the ground more of a chance to thaw, but it's slim. I'm not hopeful.

Any inspection would need to take place before 9am so it's got no chance I'm afraid

Match postponed... Darlington Rugby Club V Acklam today is off. All the pitches at BM are totally frozen and unplayable.

Don't think covers would have made much difference. The temperature last night got down to about -5. Carlisle had a game postponed this week despite having their pitch fully covered for several days. Even covered pitches can't handle this kind of nightly freeze-up. We've just been a bit unlucky. On the bright side, this kind of thing may offer our only hope of going through the festive period unbeaten.

Just got back from helping out at BM we have put a covering of straw down in front of the main stand and the goal area tin shed end, in the lap of the weather gods now.

The main areas of concern are in front of the seated stand and two areas in the penalty box in front of the tin shed.

The rest of the pitch had started to give, however with another frost forecast tonight we will be back to square one.

My feeling is it will be off but rearranged midweek.

Can't see it being on. Any inspection would have to be done before Salford set off surely? If this is true then 09:00 would be about the latest & we have a hard frost now
