Players not understanding their roles is criminal in football for me. Fine, he's not been at it long but I'm not getting a sense of clarity of thought and direction at all.
I want him to do well, I really do, but he's not at the moment.
You’ve summarised it quite nicely.
It does feel like some players haven’t bought in, and are playing within themselves.

Listened to it all on the very good Darlofansradio - sounded like a disastrous start followed by a better second half.
These things happen, at least it didn't go totally tits up like Scunthorpe away all those years ago - - this game was SO important though, what a bad time to malfunction.
I still feel confident that T.W. will get us out of this.

There's a long list of banal clichés in football speak.
This one's probably my candidate for the worst.

TW made some bad choices and set us up all wrong for the first half and we paid the price. No one seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing. This defeat sets some alarm bells ringing and ive seen nothing to suggest progress is being made on the pitch.

Mainly because I feel our players are good enough to put together some results - after our tough run of fixtures eases up.

Chris Hardy hasn't got the balls for this job.
He never sent in a CV, he just made an "informal" enquiry.
Obviously we followed the CVs up and when McGurk and AA turned us down - we then got Hardy in for interview.
I was told that he turned up thinking it was an "informal" chat rather than an interview!
If true, how arsed was he about the job? Not very. Forget Chris Hardy.
I think AA would have been a major, major coup and would have done the job, he's doing fantastic at Blyth on a lesser budget and they have several real quality players. Something put him off taking this job.

I agree we have the players for it, my concern is that they are not playing well as a unit under Wright's direction. We need to hear something good from today's post match interview to give me confidence that we will stay up.

Unfortunately, Caton - somehow - is one of our better paid players so we are stuck with him for 2 years.
You could be forgiven for thinking that a trialist with no particular goalscoring record would be brought in on a short term deal on a hundred quid a week or something - but you'd be wrong.
Gray had completely lost the plot by pre season and was throwing good contracts at anyone who'd take them - basically full time wage contracts at part time players - using our hard earned, hard raised extra money. I'm so glad he's gone, what a mess.

Every fixture is "tough" when you are near the bottom, because almost every other team is better than you. Fuck me we even failed to beat Ferriby, who have lost nearly every match this season.

I do honestly believe that if he would set us up with a 442 all the players playing in their normal positions we can turn this around , it’s about time AW stepped up and put his marker down for the poor defending, this isn’t about individual mistakes , it’s about players playing out of position and not coping with new formations in especially at the back end of season in a relegation dog fight

I dont feel confident at all after that shambles. We were all over the place against a s*** side and i think there is every chance we will be relegated. Team selection, tactics and organisation are all wrong and we need to see some signs that TW can make some progress.

I think it was said that Marrs wants to leave - so thats probably why Thommo was at RB
So what? He's not left and we're still paying him. Get him in the team.
A back four of Marrs, Brown, Collins and Galbraith is 3/4 of the back four that finished in a play off spot last season and should be capable of more.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
It's 3/4 of the back four that conceded 71 last season. We finished 5th last year but we didn't have a top 5 defence. I recall several matches where we got shredded - Curzon at home being particularly embarrassing.
It's only because we scored shed loads of goals last year that we did so well, it masked the deficiencies somewhat. The likes of Gillies, Syers, Beck this season were a shadow of last season so the goals dried up and now the defence can be seen for what it has been for a good 18 months - a shambles.
Marrs isn't good enough, to be honest Brown isn't the same player since his 3 months out injured and Collins is always carrying a knock. Burgess is utter pants which is why he's currently at Whitby, and Galbraith is also maxed out as high up as he can play.
We need an entire new back line consisting of players like James Curtis.

That of course is James Curtis of Spennymoor who've conceded more goals than us this season.
(I'm not disputing that our defence isn't good enough)

The club is paying the price for going all in with MG in an unchecked manner and we are now paying the consequences. It is clear that we have reached a level or two above our station too early and artificially. This is compounded by the fact we have appointed TW who without the links to the club would not have made my shortlist. The club and infrastructure is not ready for this level never mind the one above, season on season since 2012 we have been running before walking, in a mad panicked rush to get the club back to the Conference at an all or nothing pace. Maybe a relegation or two is what we need to go back through the leagues at a more measured and more constructive pace?

Relegation would be a disaster because we have too many players on 2 year deals on good money. We couldn't pay them in the Evostik because we'd have to drop gate prices etc so turnover would drop - and that's if crowds stay the same.
What I do agree with is that a couple more (at least) seasons at this level may be good for us. hopefully we can start to bring young players through and become more financially stable - without the pressure of a Gray character demanding more money all of the time

Wright and White haven’t improved us at all.
We’ve got worse and I have zero confidence in them either. We seem to be getting worse after each game.
What the fuck did they work on in training the past 3 weekends. Shambles doesn’t cover it.
Waiting the usual suspects saying the same s*** of “not his team” “give him time” “he needs a full pre-season”.
The man is taking us down. Nice enough bloke, but nowhere near good enough.

Well ok maybe two is a bit extreme, possibly, but as yet we don't know what league is financially sustainable putting all our income and outgoings together and without overstretching. At the moment evostick Premier is probably where we would be comfortable.

What have they been doing on the training pitch for last 4 weeks?.
Comments about needing to be tighter at the back and he plays with 4 wingers who cannot defend at all and one of them right back when we have a proper RB on the bench. What.?
3/4 new signings are no better than we had, and why sign Heaton if he doesn't think he is good enough to get into a shocking defense.
Why send Vaulks on loan when every time he plays he seems better than the others?
No excuses for TW after 4 weeks working with the players.

Actually, i would like to hear him take some culpability, and give us a clear direction of travel as a bare minimum. Do I sound like I'm looking for platitudes?

I don't think we need an admission of culpability - it seems clear he's not setting the team up right.
I'd just like to see a team of players doing the simple things. We saw it for a couple of games when Brown and Turnbull were in charge didn't we?
