Darlington FC V Harrogate
Today’s game is going to be a real test, we know exactly what’s coming having played them a few weeks ago. I just hope we keep it simple, go 442 , players in their established positions and put a real shift in, if they do that the fans will get behind them no question.
Any fannying about with formation or personal will confirm that TW/AW are not learning.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
Unfortunately we can't rely on us keeping a clean sheet, we need to up our game in all positions and they need our support throughout the 90 minutes.
Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
Hope Beck keeps a clean sheet! What kind of reception do you think he will get?
Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
Big test today. We've seen Harrogate recently. Albeit without players like Beck and Ainge who are now returning fro injury. Can't see why Beck would get a bad reception good play for us and seems to have earned us and decent fee.
In my opinion very simple gameplan today. Pack the midfield with 3 stop them from playing and if Beck is playing CB get out wide to stop the croas from being put in close to the box. If they want to float balls at him from their own half like Gray used to Brown and Heaton should be able to mop that up. Need to look at playing clever too. We know Falkringham is a windup merchant in midfield, he will go down under light tackle and call for cards etc. Then we play the same game with him. Get under his skin.
My team for today would be:
-------------------------- Talbot -----------------------------
Trotman ---- Heaton ---- Brown ---- Galbraith/Marrs
---------- Turnbull -- Wheatley -- Scott --------------
Thompson ----------------------------------------- Mills
------------------------- Styche ------------------------------
Subs: Syers, Gillies, Saunders, Collins, Bancroft.
Turnbull and Scott sitting in midfield in front of the back four should offer the protection we need. Wheatley would be required to be the ball carrier from midfield and join in and tracks with the attacking 3 infront of him.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
So long as we don't expect Marrs to man-mark Beck. We need plenty of height in our back four. Has White given up competitive playing entirely? We could do with his spirit and stop giving the ball away when in our possession, then we may have a chance to surprise Harrogate, who must be expecting a walkover.JE93 wrote:Big test today. Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
Part of me is strangely optimistic we will get something out of today's game. Most of me is fully expecting to lose by at least 3 goals.
Heaton deserves a chance to start today. Not sure who instead of.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
If Collins is available he plays, Brown can do a job at RB he's done it before we need his height today, not sure about Marrs he was left out of the squad on Saturday obviously brought into the team when Wheatley had to be side lined but given Thompson was put into RB as first choice when Trotman was injured can't of sat well with Marrs.
Talbot,
Brown Collins Heaton Galbraith (if fit) Scott (if not),
Thompson Turnbull Wheatley Gillies,
Styche Mills,
Anyway what ever the team is they have to put a shift in, and I just hope TW does not play any formation other than 442

I'd like to think Beck's will get a very good reception, he can't be blamed for our current predicament.jjljks wrote:Hope Beck keeps a clean sheet! What kind of reception do you think he will get?

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
I was thinking Gary Brown for RB as well, like that team but Portas for Gillies would be my preference in a 433.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
The form we're in, teams below us losing matches is a good thing
Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
I wouldn't worry about NFU suddenly going on a run because they're comfortably the worst team in the league.
York are beating them 3-0 at half time. Shame the ferret faced cunnt Gray couldn't replicate that earlier in the season when we drew 1-1 there.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate
I seem to recall that we should have been 3-0 up at half-time against North Ferriby but both Caton and Beck missed simple chances in the first half. They looked like a pub team in the main until we handed them a comedy equaliser.

Wonder if there will be any segregation today, as Harrogate will probably bring a few hundred to the game?
