Central defence

Post by Darlo_Pete » Wed Dec 27, 2017 4:03 pm

This has been one of our weakest positions over most of the season so far. But with the addition of Heaton, suddenly our central defence looks one of our strongest positions. Collins, Brown and Heaton now offer us the solidity that we have been missing pretty well all season. Brown and in particular Collins can also do a more than adequate job at right back. Heaton reminded me very much od Dan Burn yesterday, as his stature just seemed to grow as the game progressed yesterday. Obviously one swallow doesn't make a summer, but the signs are very encouraging.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that all of a sudden it's a strong position. It's 1 decent game they've had. Consistency is the key

Agree with Pete. It's too early to be sure, though our defence looked solid as he says, but with the turn of the year it also feels like we have turned a corner and hopefully buried the fall out from MG and his departure. I'm sure others will be glad to put 2017 behind us too.

Let's see how the next month goes before we start proclaiming one good result as a new dawn!

Boxing day showed that we are not as doomed as some have made out over recent weeks and we do still have the quality to beat the best teams in the division. However, we need to start showing that consistently.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Thought the defence looked stronger, however I put this down to being given a lot more protection from Turnbull and Wheatley in the middle and Thommo and Gillies out wide. Something which has been lacking probably for the last year.

Consistency is the key you are right... Yes we will lose but it's how we react in the next game and get a result
