From John Tempest

A dozen hard working volunteers have cleared all the public areas of Blackwell Meadows of snow on Friday lunchtime, but now the club needs three times as many people to help clear the pitch ahead of the 9.30am inspection on Saturday morning.

The pitch is soft underneath the snow, and therefore we are optimistic that if we clear the snow, then hopefully the Chorley game will get the go-ahead from the match referee.

We therefore need at least 40 volunteers to come to Blackwell Meadows, equipped with plastic shovels and wheelbarrows, at around 7.30 on Saturday morning, to help clear the snow from the pitch.

If you can spare an hour or two, then it would be greatly appreciated!

Sausage and bacon sandwiches will also be provided.

Informed they are some spare shovels also for those who don't have any and really want to help out, also need people to remove the snow whilst someone else is scooping up, anyone with spare wheel barrows would also help loads.

No word of a lie, it will need a lot of volunteers. I have been down today and can only say it will be hard work for those who do turn up so the more that do, the better it will be.

Count me in I will be there at 8 with my shovel. Think we may need more than 40 if I remember from heritage park where we did not get it all cleared. Need all the help we can especially the younger guys. Need this game on to give the lads a chance to get that first 2018 win

Thanks for the club for laying on some bacon sarnies and coffee. Even Alan White came along to see what was happening, although I didn't see him pick up a shovel. :D

Great turn out from Darlo fans today, with good support from the rugby clubs staff / supporters plus our Chairman , CEO and a Middlesbrough supporter. I thought that completing this would be difficult but was wrong due to the hard work put in by all.

Brilliant effort
