Ben O’Hanlon
Ben O’Hanlon
Another who played for TW at both Corby and Nuneaton has been released by Harrogate. Left-back I believe.

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Do we need another left back when we have Galbraith, I'd say no? Plus he'll be on full-time wages so he won't come cheap and he'll want a decent wage.
Re: Ben O’Hanlon
I’d say yes. Any defensive re-enforcements would be welcome. Galbraith looks like his confidence is shot and no one wants to see Leon play there. Also frees up Galbraith to play CB.
The lad hasn’t got a job as of today, I hardly think he’ll be demanding the earth

Snap the lad up if he’ll come. Thommo needs to be playing up front with Styche

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Totally agree Nick, if Tommy prefers 3 at the back Galbraith moves across and we bring in a left wing back which frees Thommo to play up front.Get him signed up then that leaves us with needing a partner for Reece. No brained for me.grimsbyquaker wrote:Snap the lad up if he’ll come. For all we know, he could be absolutely dog-s***. Massive gamble imo.

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Have to agree, if he's been released, then we'd need to know the reasons. It might be that if he's not good enough for them, then he may not be good enough for us. Did he play against us?HarrytheQuaker wrote:Has anyone thought WHY he was released??? NOT good enough or the commute from Telford too much!!! Why do we want him??

Someone text Tommy. Harry, have you got his number?

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Seen him play last season in away game v Nuneaton and he was very good attacking left wing back, was probably man of the match.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Has anyone thought WHY he was released??? NOT good enough or the commute from Telford too much!!! Why do we want him??
I could see why Wright might be interested if he played like that quite often.

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Even if he is a half decent defender, that would be enough to improve us at the minute surely to god.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Has anyone thought WHY he was released??? NOT good enough or the commute from Telford too much!!! Why do we want him??

Lots of brilliant players have been released at some stage.
Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Behind Ben Parker at Harrogate, could be his decision to leave to get some playing time. Good pedigree ex-England schoolboy
Re: Ben O’Hanlon
If he's an attacking full back with some pace then it sounds like he'd fit the system Wright is trying to get us to play.super_les_mcjannet wrote:Seen him play last season in away game v Nuneaton and he was very good attacking left wing back, was probably man of the match.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Has anyone thought WHY he was released??? Him and Trotman either side with Galbraith, Heaton and Collins/Brown across the middle.
If Wright insists on playing this formation we might as well have suitable players for it.

Even better, someone go and walk their dog down Eastbourne and tell TW that Ben O'Hanlon is a free agent.

I’d be amazed if he didn’t already know

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
He was good that day but then again Mills was excellent for Tamworth v Darlo last season and his fitness isn't where it was and hasn't hit the same levels.Spyman wrote:If he's an attacking full back with some pace then it sounds like he'd fit the system Wright is trying to get us to play.super_les_mcjannet wrote:Seen him play last season in away game v Nuneaton and he was very good attacking left wing back, was probably man of the match.HarrytheQuaker wrote:Has anyone thought WHY he was released??? It appears this is a done deal though so we will get to find out.

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
Announced tonight at AGM that we were signing a left back apparently, some other rumours around which match it also. So from what I have heard be very surprised if it doesn't happen.Vodka_Vic wrote:Where did you get that from Les?

Wasn't there, just what I was told and also on Twitter. Hopefully someone can give us a run down of the AGM and the main take outs.Vodka_Vic wrote:Sounds good. Any other news from AGM?

Re: Ben O’Hanlon
He may have been released because we had agreed to sign him.
Waiting for the paperwork to go through before announcing it rather than Harrogate releasing because he is shite.

Released by York.norwich darlo wrote:Did we not get Gabbiadini that wayBeano wrote:Lots of brilliant players have been released at some stage.
York manager, Alan Little, told the board that Gabbiadini was "past his best" and they decided not to offer him an extended contract.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883
Re: Ben O’Hanlon
And also - not being good enough for Harrogate, 2nd place in the table, doesn't mean he wouldn't improve us, 19th place in the table.
Re: Ben O’Hanlon
I seem to remember a couple of seasons ago we released a left-back who was more than good enough for the level we were playing at but we couldn't give him enough game time with Galbraith in the side.
He's played 13 games this season for the side who are 6th in our division.
I'd love to have Ian Watson back in our squad. Exactly the sort of player we could do with on the left.
